Yorick Weak to Strong?

I just want to hear your experiences playing reworked yorick. I just did my first normal with him and he was super super weak early game but even after feeding like crazy, late game I was destroying people. Thoughts? Is he normally so squishy so early or is that just me?

Hmm.. I think a lot of people arn't playing to his strengths yet.

Personally i think he fails pretty hard in team fights given how easy it is to kite him. However in skirmishes he does quite well and does solid damage if he can get in range.

The best yoricks tend to split push right now and avoid team fighting if possible.

While I like the rework in many aspects, he does far less damage now when you build damage as opposed to old. Pure numbers aside, his gameplay did not change much except that he has become less reliable than before, meaning he can now miss damage completely and frequently that he used to get 100% of the time. What he provides to teamfights is incredible when the team knows how to siege and utilize terrain well. His split push is mediocre only because he has no mobility so if he gets caught against a better duelist is is likely gonna be caught, at least Singed, You, or Tyrnd can run away.

In short, he is weaker than ever before in low and mid ELO, and slightly better than before in higher ELO.

He starts off weak and ends up strong because Rito gave him a ton of free damage so he's basically like a juggernaut Zyra with creeps instead of plants.

They could always balance him and incentivise offensive items but they want tanky butt-wreckers to be a thing.

He is strong other than his ult being absolute garbage

Greetings, guy I destroyed last game as Yorick's counter Renekton, mastery 5 yorick here (got it pre-rework)

First rule of early game yorick - take grasp of the undying in every matchup. Especially a losing one. The sustain meshes too well with your Q.

First and a half rule (forgot to mention this) Don't try early engage. Lowest level possible is level 3 and that's if you have either the worst top laner for an opponent or you took summoner 14 because you're a sadist. You can't properly engage without ghouls in this scenario and if you miss your E, welp, there goes that.

Second rule - if you're having a rough time, don't still rush item 3078, go for item 3025 or item 3065. If you're really adamant, get a item 3057 but don't finish it, go for an armor item such as item 3143 or a sustain item such as item 3065. If you get Swain or Illaoi top, sit in a corner and cry because you're not going to out-sustain them. Third rule - the most damage you should ever be building is item 3156 item 3053 item 3078 item 3153 any combination of these items. Bork and triforce are for pushing/dueling, and maw/steraks are your "lifelines" (hueh get it)

Fourth rule - Use your ult to split - it has no real use in team fights unless you got my team (boosted animals by the way) distracted. Get it to lane, let it go, group up. Grouping as yorick is kind of stupid though because most comps can deal with your W, and your ult is a piece of cake to shred. At that point you're just distracting. Yorick's a split push queen. You ever notice how I didn't leave you alone (except when you got my first tower)? Because I know you can open the gates easily if left alone.

Fifth and final rule - item 3512 item 3060 always. No exceptions.

I'd say Yorick's power lies with split pushing and taking objectives, so yes he probably wouldn't have much use early game. In terms of 1v1, I don't have much experience with him, but his power spike should be at level 6. You probably wouldn't be able to trade well until you get a few points into your Q.

He splitpushes like a beast. Imo the fastest splitpusher in the game. Late game he can wreck people if you can actually land your abilities.
