What does Ahri do that nobody else does now?

Considering Riot's Balance team is milking the phrase "diversity" way too damned much I was wondering what Ahri brings to the table that no other champion does now that they, in my opinion, destroyed what made her character and playstyle unique in League.

Riot's explanation- she's a mobile poke champion:

Well thats great but I'd rather take a longer range poke like Xerath or Lux.

Her Q is a returning projectile:

Uh Gnar and Sivir do that as well with less mana costs on top.

She's a mobile mage who still has some assassin potential:

Yeah but Leblanc can do it better now and why not take Riot's #2 fanboy after Lee Sin - Zed there's all you mobility and assassination right there at no mana costs with a free escape with his ultimate

She.....has her damage apmlifica.... OH WAIT THEY TOOK THAT AWAY ALONG WITH DFG!

My sympathies to any major Ahri mains your champions entire style has been destroyed its like the Cassio rework all over again.

Honeslty the only time Riot changed a champion's play style for the better was Sion. Whoever was in charge of that one let him/her make the decisions from now on when changing a champions kit.

Patch 5.2 = gg get rekt mana using mid laners 2015 is the year of the manaless assassins

Ahri's thing is now kiting. She's good at staying just out of reach, while continuing to put damage on the target.

There's a reasonable argument to be made that taking someone like Lux is more efficient, but there should be. Lux is quite a different playstyle. Lux is a long ranged turret sort of thing and has no little ability to open range against someone coming to get her. You're supposed to be thinking about whether kiting or turreting is more valuable to your team comp.

I do think Riot needs to get its story straight on how mana versus manaless champions should be balanced, because currently the mana using mids are running scared.

Again I feel as if kiting is better accomplished by someone like a Ezreal or Fizz their ability to dodge or juke surpasses Ahri's. Maybe if they increased the cc of her charm or had never removed its dmg amplification she might be good but alas......

hashtag better nerf Sona

Ezreal is a perfectly reasonable comparison. Again, that's a thing that should always be a question - would this team do better with an Ezreal or an Ahri? We don't want there to be an obvious answer there.

Fizz I think is very different. He's not really interested in staying just out of range and bleeding you down. He wants to 100-0 you with a fish.

I think "better nerf Sona" is a symptom of Riot not having a clear answer to GC's question "what level of play do we balance for?" Sona is pretty easy to play, so she does really well at lower levels and not so hot at competitive level. If Riot balances for silver, then Sona needs nerfs. If Riot balances for LCS, she needs buffs.

I'm pretty sure the tuning for Ahri will turn out to be wrong. They made a ton of changes, there's just no way they got that right the first time. Expect some Ahri buffs or nerfs, not sure which, in 5.3.

Agreed, I feel like she pokes people down with harass and kites until she's ready to burst them down.

While continuing to put damage on the target? What damage? Ahri's firing a pea-shooter. They should have buffed the damage on Q to compensate, or buffed her tankiness some to compensate for cutting her damage in half.

I find that new Ahri still feels great to me. I think a lot of the complaining about her lack of damage is overblown, and the new Q is more useful than expected in teamfights.

Ahri was my main mid laner, now I have to find a new one since she has like no damage. :(

Wow way to add to the discussion with your insightful input. The number of times I've heard someone say "thats so bronze or only a bronze would say that is ridiculous". The man had his favourite champion nerfed show some dammed sympathy or don't bother posting dumb responses like this one.

Wow, another know at all who thinks he's better than everyone just because he didn't get placed in bronze. . When you say shit like that, it simply makes you look like an awful person. Nothing else to it.

Also, I've been playing for less than a year and was placed in S5 last season. So excuse me if I'm still learning. At least I'm not an asshole.

She is just as strong now as a kite mage as she was back then (higher spell rotations and higher mobility in exchange for a slightly weaker all in combo).

How is she as strong without the DFG or decent mana regen or even her damage amplification from her Charm. Its mathematically impossible for her to pour out the same damage. Your argument is liking saying Kassadin is as sting as he was 2 seasons ago. It doesn't matter what they could do, its what they are able to do in the current meta that matters.

I find it to be a good change. I recently just played with an ahri who practically 1v4'd because as she was throwing out Q's she was avoiding skillshots (Because of the speed boost she managed to dodge a thresh hook, Lee sin Q, and an ult from Jinx). If she gets ahead she is still strong and actually still puts out a lot of damage.

Viktor Ahri's entire combo dmg in one Q, but srsly F her mobility.

You answered your own question, dude.

"Riot's explanation- she's a mobile poke champion:

Well thats great but I'd rather take a longer range poke like alien man or flyleaf girl."

You'd rather take longer range poke. But** that's not mobile poke, which is what Ahri does. ** Therefore, Ahri is not doing what they do, and that's what she does different. You prefer long range, and not mobile; I prefer Lulu supp over Janna.

Not to mention "the only time rito blah blah blah sion" Well, and Tristana. Otherwise, you're right. I want Soraka's spam-Q back.

Dodging skillshots and having mobility that also doesn't hinder her damage (as it often does with LeBlanc, for instance).
