The people who are playing the new champs in rank'd

I hate you.

I beat the people who are playing the new champ in the enemy side. I lose the games when the new champs are in my team.

I check their match history, ALL losses.

Which is why every time I have a newly released champ in my team, I will pick w.e other champion who will be my first time (: even if their role isn't what their supposed to be. Idc. I don't like losing over someone deciding to LEARN a new champ in RANKED. Losing makes the game boring. I don't wanna play consistent boring games because of people wanting to try out new champs in a serious game mode.

Riot you need to stop letting these new champions being played in RANKED.

Down vote me all you like, I will do things my way. Even If i have to bend the rules.

EDIT: And no, i'm not saying I'm going to feed or troll.

My one exception would be if they played a ton of that champ on PBE, but I really agree with you. I honestly don't think you should be allowed to play a champ in ranked until you have 10-20 games of normals on that champion.

Or better yet, Riot can just disable the champion for a week in ranked only.

Jorencice1 votes

Me and many other pepole who first time in ranked would simply wait a week then.

Normals teach you NOTHING.

La Belle Sauvage1 votes

Disagree.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

You and me both.

Normals are the basics for learning the champ. Rank should focus on showing your test of knowledge on the game, your champion and the enemy champion at least.

No one plays a rank game playing a role or champion they are not familiar with unless they are auto filled. It is because of that people should have other champions for other roles if that happens.

Normals is where you can learn to play a champ to a good and confident level before taking them to rank, where then fine tune these abilities even further.

The point is, normals is the testing center for new champs.

Jorencice1 votes

Maybe for new players.

But as someone who has played every champion in the game at least 20+ times.

It doesnt take more than 3 minutes in a custom to learn projectile speed and spell range.

Anything else can easily be learned in ranked.

Especially at a silver level where i am.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

Perhaps but say you are playing, I don't know, Karthus. Would you rather play him some custom to learn the basics and get screwed by a Kat because you do not know how to deal with her as Karthus or play normals some 30+ times, face a Kat some 10 times, and feel good about it and have better chances landing Qs? Match up is a learning method.

HalcyonDweller2 votes

Exactly, there needs to be some sort of requirement to make it so people can't play stuff they don't know in ranked.

Ark Sorcerer4 votes

I think just disabling the champs for a week in ranked play is good enough condition.

HalcyonDweller1 votes

I'm not as confident that would work, some people can't afford to get the champions until later. This would also prevent them from playing ranked with previously existing champions until they have learned them better first.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

Ever heard of normals? In NA, there is blind and draft normals. I think maybe seeing them for a week in normals is enough practice to play them and play against them if they occur in your games.

I mean sure, the players playing them have those games under their belts, say 50 to 10, but it is still something.

Would two weeks suffice for you? That adds another week for the people who wait for them to drop down to 6,300IP.

HalcyonDweller1 votes

Ouch man, did you mean to say something so arrogant? Of course I've heard of normals... moving on now.

I think you missed the point of my comment. Players don't always buy the new champions immediately when they are released, others have to save up, or they wait for the price reduction, or... any number of other reasons. They might buy the champion several weeks after release. The time-period-ban would not stop these people from first-timing the champions in ranked.

The point is that using a time period to ban the champions from Ranked would not work as well as requiring a certain number of games or a certain level of mastery.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

No I did not mean to say something so "arrogant" but at the end of the day it solves the problem that a champion was JUST released and appears in rank.

There is nothing we or Riot can do to stop people from playing rank with champions they do not know all that well (I hope Riot does not -- You have to be Mastery 5 or higher with a champion-- no) but with them being banned from rank but allowed on normal play, these players can get effective practice on them before trying them in rank.

That is the point I am trying to get across. It is simply ideal. Wait a week or two, those players who bought them either immediately or waited for them to reduce to 6,300IP can get some practice in normals.

HalcyonDweller1 votes

That indirectly solves the problem, I agree it would handle most of the problem cases.

But I believe my solution would directly solve the problem. Obviously it would be too much to require mastery 5, I would never have suggested that. I'm thinking something more reasonable like Mastery 1. Or 5 games. Something simple like that.

This would also keep from punishing people who bought the champions and play them enough to use them in ranked without sucking. That said I realized that part of the problem you may be trying to address (correct me if my assumption is wrong) is people not having time to learn how to play against those champions to have a fair chance against them in ranked. For that purpose maybe a 1 week grace period would be good still, but I think both our ideas could be implemented at the same time without interfering with one another while both improving quality of ranked matches.

You are looking at the general situation that a player may play a champion in rank for the first time while I am talking about the specific newly released champs are being played in rank.

You are adding additional qualifiers to play rank. Minimum of X champions and have a minimum mastery of say champion is fine as an overall way to reduce people playing champs they do not know, even though someone can play ARAM with that champ, win 3 games, loss 2, and meet qualifications. Does that mean they know how to play them?

HalcyonDweller1 votes

Ok I see we are trying to solve different but similar problems.

As for the ARAM problem, it should be simple enough to only count games of a certain mode, such as normals.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

Add more conditions to play rank: one must play a champ y times in norms to play them in rank? I mean, sure, whatever, just make sure there is some type of indicator to say when said champ can be played in rank.

HalcyonDweller1 votes

So... let me get this straight; you're pissed off that players are doing stuff they don't know how to do in ranked, so your solution is to do the same thing back to them?

An eye for an eye?

Im pissed off at players who think it's a bright idea to play new champs in Ranked. I'm seeing Xayah and Rakkan being played ALL over the place in different roles. Losing and feeding.

So yeah im pretty much doing an eye for an eye.

Gosh, do you also get this angry when your ice cream scoop falls off the cone and onto the ground?

[slayer-jinx-wink]

Toxic behavior is toxic behavior. If you don't want teammates ruining games you shouldn't go about ruining their games either.

I'm not ruining games. It's not like i go feed or troll. I'm doing the SAME thing as them.

HalcyonDweller1 votes

You mean committing the exact SAME crime.

Here is a real solution for you: Report them and move on.

OR: When reworks or new champions are released, just don't play ranked for a week or two. Problem solved, you won't lose ranked from their mistakes.

Reporting people because they choose to play new champs in rank? lmao.

HalcyonDweller1 votes

Only responding to the part of my comment that you can easily act superior over? lmao.

4NoxiousHours1 votes

I'm literally in champion select and two people are saying they are going to troll/feed because my teammates banned them. Unbelievable.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

I'd rather learn my allies are immature morons willing to troll at the slightest provocation in Champion Select (where I have to option to dodge) rather than in-game.

La Belle Sauvage1 votes

I can't wait to play the new champs. In NORMS.

WitchQueen Annie1 votes

this is why it is customary for me to wait a month or 2 before ranking again when new champs are released... I treat it as a holiday where I can go fight in Normals to expand my champion pool

I'll be cheerfully practicing my Ashe, Ziggs and Veigar
