How can I farm better as Jhin?

So I was looking for the q&a that should have came out Still looking, & any links would be appreciated and remembered something about my first match as Jhin. I ended up going 13/5/20, & although that's good, I was lvl 8 around mid-game, & everyone else was lvl 11 before I started raking in a little bit more minions. I hate to use my w (His beam that stuns if hit by anything prior) to kill minions even if it's hella helpful since it passes through minions, but my q just doesn't cut it. I also hate having to use my fourth bullet for anything other than champs, & when I do use my fourth bullet, his reload costs me a good two minions right there. I feel like his grenade should do very small AoE damage to minions. It's just sad that I ended up getting around 7 kills with 0 deaths early-game, & was so under-farmed my team started passing me in level.

What more can I do to secure minions? I last hit when I can, & use grenade, but I feel his farming is just weak, & needs some help. I really think small AoE on minions from his q (Grenade) would help him It's a grenade after all Riot :/

I mean presumably you were bot right? Most times you're sharing xp with a teammate. Your mid/top and even jungler will surpass you in level. You level up with minion deaths, not minion kills. So even if you're missing cs, you're not losing the xp.

ADC is literally my worst role, but even when I top, or mid I notice the jump in xp from getting a minion kill to not getting that minion kil is slightly different, or at least I thought :/

No, minions give the same experience whether you last hit them or not. It is equally split among every enemy champion around it in experience range. That is why top and mid usually level up the fastest, and support the slowest (because they are almost always with someone, while adcs will typically solo farm at points after laning if safe to do so).

That is also why some junglers heavily ping you to back when you are helping them leash. They are not just asking you to back so you won't kill the monster and get the money- they want you out of experience range so they get all of it allowing them to level faster.

Well aside from feeling terribly stupid right now (4 yrs of experience under my belt) I'll remember this, & will majorly adjust how offensive, & defensive I farm/play. The more I know I guess.

I would recommend staggering the damage done to minions. Always target the weakest minion with your grenade first. That will allow you to ramp up grenade damage more easily.

Also, this might be just me, but I would still poke the enemy ADC if you could do so safely. Total CS doesn't tend to mean that much to me, as long as I can stay ahead of my opposite number. So if you can poke your opponent out of lane or off of CS, that's probably worth missing a CS or two.

It got to a point where my Support said (And I quote:)

"Hey Jhin, You're doing great, & all with your ults, & kills, but you need to work on your cs."

Also, I was aware his grenade did stack damage, but usually try to get it to where I make it's second bounce try to land on a weak minion for the extra damage, & so fourth.

Just use your grenade when you're stuck reloading or are on your fourth bullet. You don't have to worry about it as long as you keep yours decently better than your rival. It's better to focus on denying them cs and possible XP by poking them.
