League Of Legends Is Building Its Own Network To Kill Lag

Unless they were misinformed, or I am just posting old news, I am seriously ecstatic about this decision! I really do hope that this fixes a great amount of problems for people having problems with leaver-buster, & "afk's." From my knowledge, I can truly say that if this is the case, then Riot is truly working on fixing their Leaver-buster without directly fixing it. No more "I won the match with my team, & was trying to connect for hours just so I could click continue," or "Go talk to your providers about your internet problems, & that your game is very important to you."

They posted it a few months back. Nobody believed them, and nobody thought it was a good solution since it wasn't 'making east coast servers'. But ya, it's a great idea and it's fantastic that they're doing it.

I remember the post from a couple months ago. I'd still have expected them to make a little more hype about this. The idea is awesome and if it pans out, we'd all have better ping! Cant wait till march!

March is when it should be finished; it's a WIP and some links are currently in place while some aren't. When I first started my ping was 120 every game until...idk like September? October maybe? It's been down to ~90 for a while now though, it's nice.

when i started i had 70-75 ping. I live in the mid-west. currently i am at 130 and its no fun!

That's why it's called a work in progress. Besides, they said for some ping might slightly increase. I realize yours went up significantly, but by the time it's over it'll normalize out most likely.

It's kinda sad that some players think the only solution is east coast servers and nothing else would work or help in anyway.

People overestimate how much of an impact distance has on ping. It's a simple result of the fact that we're a society that is incredibly reliant on technology which almost nobody understands. People sees omething happen and make an assumption as to what the cause is without really understanding what the real cause is, and then they become set on a certain solution to that problem, whether that solution will actually fix it or not.

Kotaku isn't very reliable anymore, they like to pick up rumors then turn around and make posts like they are facts. I'm not saying they're wrong by any means, I myself have heard of new servers and such.

Just please be careful what you read on Kotaku, most of the time they are just trying to get views rather than provide info for the community.

If you had bothered to read the Kotaku article, you would have seen a link to read more at Riot, which is the forum post Aerothal linked you to. Maybe Kotaku have turned into rumormongers (I don't read them myself so I don't know), but that was silly.
