Tahm's W shouldn't prioritize allies

In my personal experience, the ally-prioritization of TahmKench's Devour often tends to be counterproductive during fights.

This feature should help TK's player save their teammates, but in reality it prevents them from reliably using their spell aggressively when their target is near an ally, leaving them with only 2 possible choices: use W on the ally or don't use W at all.

In my opinion this is bad from a gameplay perspective, because it feels like being robbed of a crucial part of TK's kit (which is also 1 of the only 3 ways he can interact with enemy champions).

Please Riot, consider removing this mechanic and let TK players decide how they want to use their Devour.

I wouldn't agree if not for the fact that it REALLY overcompensates for allies.

I mean, it'd be ok if the two champs are overlapping, but having one beside the other, clicking the enemy and the ability eating the ally is just dumb, especially when they already have 3 stacks

He needs three stacks to devour enemies anyway, so I don't see the issue.

because it's easy to accidentally click the ally ontop of the enemy with three stacks because devour prioritizes allies.

the fact that he needs 3 stacks is the entire crux of the issue. Since it is already gated by the stacking, there is no reason for it to prioritize allies. IF Tahm wants to save a teammate, he would just W them without fear of eating an enemy to begin with since allies need no stacks.

If Tahm is taking the time to stack his passive, he 99.99% of the time likely would much rather W the enemy he stacked rather than his ally, making ally priority redundant.

In contrast, Lulu's E prioritizes enemies ( and even freaking minions)instead of allies, even tho 9/10 she would prefer to shield teammate than deal 20 damage to the enemy. <_>

Rito get it together lmao. xD

I like the ally prioritization because the concern should either be to W your dying carry or pop it on their fleeing one. If you're using it aggressively it shouldn't be in the center of the fight, where everyone can target who you want to devour, because you're now extending this person's uptime and giving your carries one less viable escape option.

thing is, since your W on enemy requires you stack it first, you shouldn't have any issues using your W on allies to begin with since its all you can W unless you HAVE the stacks on the enemy.

Totally agree.

Not that devouring ally/enemy is better or anything, just sometimes you'll want to devour an enemy and you'll devour an ally, which is dumb.

sounds good. How badly does it prioritize allies?

I can't give you the precise radius of the area where the ally-prioritization is in effect, but it's surprisingly wide.
