The likely reason Crit Damage Reduction is being removed

Like Exhaust double dipping vs AS users, Randuins unfairly countered specifically those who build crit. Like Sivir, Trynd, Crit Jhin or Jinx. While doing nothing vs lethality users, AD caster or flat physical damage. Like Varus, Fiora, Vi, Lethality Jhin or Bloodrazor users.

Meaning an item already geared towards lowering AS champions was hitting a specific group harder than another, a group that is already worse than the other.

And no, Yasuo's annoying design and bloated kit don't justify such a thing. That is Yasuo's problem and should be fixed on Yasuo's end.

It is a positive change considering the overall improvement to tank items anyway, and the upcoming tank update. It will balance out balancing a lot more and make tweaking other items and champions easier.

In otherwords. It is aimed towards making future balancing more sensible.

But you know, circlejerks must circlejerk.

Though that was the original point of the item from my understanding, more specified against crit based champions.

Honestly if they wanted to make it more unique, they probably should have removed the AS reduction since it shared (and stacked) it with Frozen Heart, making it the choice you get if there is a lot of crit or if you don't have mana for FH. Removing the AS reduction would have made it a more niche item, which I thought was the point of rebalancing some tank items.

Now it's basically just FH but with an active slow and health instead of mana. It feels less distinct imo.

Granted I think they removed the crit reduction because they want crit to be the main anti tank stat. Especially if they end up reducing resistance penetration.

It has the same passive but otherwise is a totally different item.

Beyond providing health and a active slow over CDR and mana, I don't see it as different enough to have its own niche from FH. At least now (but even with the crit reduction it didn't feel that different. Usually I'd still get a FH with it if the team had enough high AA crit users).

It's not suppose to be all that different like IE and ER. It is an alternative choice for when you have different needs.

The only alternative choice I'm really seeing is "do I need health more than I need mana?" Which isn't even a choice for tanks like Zac or Shen.

ER is giving you extra utility for crit and mana sustain while I.E. just gives you more damage. Their choices feel more distinct imo.

That's not the reason

They're shifting DPS towards crit by buffing crit+ IE cost, while looking at penetration, and blade of the ruined cost+ %hp damage

This totally makes sense to remove randuin %crit damage reduction since if DPS characters will rely on crit instead of everything above, they shouldn't be crippled EVEN MORE by having their crit damage reduced by randuin

That is basically what I said. It hurts the primary DPS group more than the secondary physical damage group. It is a dubious stat that shouldn't exist. Replace it with more armor and EHP in the game

hm.... i guess, right now both crit and "secondary physical damage group" aka BORK users (even bruisers that use bork) can kill tanks in the same amount of time, at least with what i saw (hello lucian) and this is also due to black cleaver armor pen that bruisers like darius can use against tank

after those changes only crit users will be able to kill tanks, as it's their job

which is why randuin crit damage is being removed

Big Lincoln

because riot hates me and wants me to play mages and carries for big play money

but I won't succumb to their vile sorcery
