Malzahar - is he really strong ? Or just an U indicative winrate?

I personally really liked malzahar's rework and found it to hit its mark in making malzahar healthier and more unique.

It seems though that he is overpowered given his recurring appearance in the lcs and his overwhelming winrate of ~55% as a mid laner.

So what is it that is broken in mid lane malzahar? Well if anything his total damage output went down across the board in the early game. While he scaling is now drawn out to more dps focused with the voidflings rather than the old burstier kit. All he really got was his new passive, which basically makes him safer in lane and more consistent late game while channeling.

So what is it that makes him so overpowered ?

Also can someone explain how is it that malzahar players with 50-125 games played have a ridiculously high winrate, while players with 125+ games have a much much lower winrate??? Do they like get dumber as they play him more or what ?

no one has fun play against malzhar, its like popping a free item 3102 every few seconds (even though you can pop it with 1 auto). you can only actually burst him until you remove his passive. troublesome for mages as that gives him the bit extra time to just unload on them with a silence and ult them.

But he does so little damage than before now though in the laning phase ... I'd rather have to deal with his new passive than being chunked to half hp every time he E s me . Or 100-0 me at level 6 with simple ewr + ignite ...

Healthier and more unique?

Malzahar had a unique niche and was the poster child for several different things.

He was;

  1. the only successful anti-assassin in the game.
  2. One of the best pushers in the game.
  3. Had one of the only potent off-builds in the entire game that didnt revolve around health.
  4. Was one of the most balanced champions from his era.

the rework took away all of that in favor of... what, making him a shitty jungler? Making him ten times more awkward than he was? intentionally nerfing every part of his kit to allow the existence of an obscenely over powered passive?

Sir, pre-rework malzahar was much healthier and more fun than this iteration of him. Do you know what changes he needed, ACTUALLY needed? A new passive. A new W. thats it. The on demand voidlings? would have been a good replacement for the pool. A new passive? Give him a spellblade that directs the voidlings. with that simple change, malzahar quite suddenly has a more aggressive playstyle incentivsed while not trampling over the champions identity.

As for 'professional dominance' thats less attributed to good changes in the rework (the new W... thats it...) and more attributed to the fact that this iteration of malzahar is largely non lethal, and is extremely slippery. He goes even and doesnt lose lane. thats... it. after the lane phase his entire existence is "CC priority targets and hope my voidlings dont get AoEd because theyre squishier than caster minions post 20 minutes". Its like playing AP shaco. You do a lot of damage - i usually have the most damage on the team if no one is fed - but my kills are clean ups and my assists are throwing a knife and stealthing away. i, alone, have very little lethality unless my opponent is being dumb. which happens a lot more on shaco than it does on malzahar because shaco has a very unassuming kit that doesnt have so much conditional damage.

I think he just fits extremely well with the meta- being both anti Mage and anti assassin due to the passive and voidlings
