The current meta is so early game centered that unless you have a heaping pile of cockblock cc like , prepare to get knocked the fuck out back to your fountain by and , while they tower dive your botlane and snowball the game. "Sorry bot lane, I couldn't take mid tower when he roamed cause is lurking and are down since I just used them when tried to rape me a minute ago with Ult and under tower." "Sorry Jungler, I did help you get that first scuttle at level 2 since I poked Zed the first 3 minutes of the game, (the only time I can even touch em) but he's 6 now, so every scuttle is going to the other jungler man, sorry." "And sorry top laner, I know you're feeling good 3-0, but is 10-0 from feasting on the blood of our bot lane, and has 9 CS per minute from counter jungling and hoarding scuttles, so I wouldn't split push if I were you."

Why even put myself through this at all, I might as well just play an Assassin like everyone else who's actually climbing in the mid lane. Let's face it, besides a few exceptions like and that can roam as hard as the assassins, most mages are dependent on whether their team can win early game for them or stay even, so they can finally justify their pick. Cause in this early roam meta, mages are obsolete.

As it goes, we just have a bunch of assassins that are somewhat popular in play rate, but when you really look at the stats, mages are winning more games. So let’s tone down the bs shall we?

Especially considering out of the top ten highest winrate midlane champions, only two, fizz and talon, are assassins. And seven, yes, SEVEN are mages. One is Mordekaiser, who I discluded as a mage.

Our cc actually does not counter assassins that well since most assassins have a way through it.

Our weak early game doesn't help either.

Fizz jumps through it and proceeds to murder you.

Talon turns invis and you now have to guess where he is and throw down the cage in the 0.5 second window before he leaps onto you and sends you back to fountain.

Zed has his shadow. So he can just shadow out and then ult you into oblivion.

Katarina can shunpo outta there. Then proceed to ult you in the face.

Le Blanc says fuck you and just w's outta your cage.

Akali just shrouds then proceeds to hop onto you and commit murder.

And Ekko? He doesn't give a shit about your CC. He's diving you anyway.

Riot was talking about making assassins less reliable early game. I hope they follow through. Getting insta-killed from across the screen by a fed LeBlanc is not fun.

It's funny, because it's the first time mid lane is quite versatil in a long time. Mid lane used to be always mage vs mage match up, but just because somehow assassins are viable now, the boards just go out completly crazy yelling for mage buffs.

Funny also how you make it look like assassins can roam anyday. At least, in my rank (atm Diamond V) mages usually push the wave and force me to stay under tower and farm or roam and lose EXP/Gold. A roam doesn't mean that will always work, and for that reason, unless you have lane priority and nothing to lose in terms of EXP/Gold, you can roam, otherwise it's not worth the risk. But yeah, mid lane is versatil now, let's complain about assassins because we totally miss the old meta mage vs mage and see who pushs the wave faster.

Play Ahri, Sol, Malza, Swain, Annie, Lux, Zilean, Velkoz, Kayle. All these are decent to good for climbing. Generally, if you want to climb for some reason (I haven't played ranked games since season 5 or something = waste of time in queue times in higher divisions), maining support will do it way faster than going mid with the biggest freelo - Janna, Nami, Kayle (if you and your adc are not completely retarded, of course), Soraka, Morgana, Taric and Karma are my recommendations.

Aren't mages ranged cockblock champs with CC? So you didn't bully the crap out of a melee champ in lane so the assassin kill lead never start and you roam? What is ur jgler doing with a scuttle lead?

Plus if they are roaming, you would do something to try to punish it. You didn't hard shove the mid wave and help top lane while the enemy jg comes to clear the wave if enemy mid is at bot.

But for LeBlanc and Zed, with a sort of an additional invisible range they have with their abilities of clones that can avoid cc.

Just by shoving a wave to a tower helps your jungler get ahead cause the enemy jgler has to waste clearing waves off towers.

Before, Assassins were about getting the early game lead and snowballing mid lane and roaming to snowball other lanes. It was just not everyone would want to gamble a lot into early game since mages could do garbage early game and beat the shit of you mid game regardless of the small lead and regardless of the big lead late game coming at 30 minutes, so there was only so much time assassins can do things in 10-20 minutes when everyone could just stall for late game and assassins fall off cause you only have an option to try to one shot the over protected adc, who can still live despite all efforts, making it a 4v5. and the mage has range advantage. Which is why mages were dominant a few patches ago.

Now, the assassins have a larger shot to snowball than they did before.

So no problem with one-shoting mages? like annie with shurelya's reverie item 2065 summoning her bear and lands a stun and u are dead 100-0.

The view is that mages are now dealing with what assassins used to deal with.

Decent waveclear with spammable Q Her ult will literally cancel most Assassins' burst plus maybe now they can't escape as easily Has more mobility than the usual mage due to E Can initiate fights and has point-and-click ult for priority targets like Ez or Vayne or whoever

i'm sure there are downsides, but I've found that Liss is a good mage into most assassin Matchups excluding Leblanc
