Elo Hell does Exist.

Not because of the trolls or flamers. Those are always present.

If you have bad MMR or are in a low rank, you're going to be paired with others that are the same. They will be horrible players, with little common sense. Toxicity, just like trolls and flaming, are also always present. By being paired with these bad people, they will weigh you down, and you will delay your climbing for a ridiculous amount. This is even worse when you have the "-20 lp when losing, gaining <20 when winning." You have to go on a ridiculous streak to win. This will happen in every rank. Bad players will keep you back and you can't do a thing about it. You'll have supports going full dmg without sighstone and taking Mejai's when 3/6. You tell them to get a sightstone and not go full damage, in the nicest way that you can? They retaliate with toxicity. Lose-lose situation. Either generate toxicity or lose the game.

People will be bad in their gameplay aspect. You can't do a thing about it. There's no solid advice you can give without sitting down and writing an essay on how you have to keep moving to dodge skillshots as you kite, that you can't just stand in one place and AA. You can't do a thing about it and you will lose.

Those without common sense, repeating the same mistakes, not reading patch notes, facechecking bushes and whatnot. Tell them not to do it nicely, they do it again. It will be a setback.

It's just a gamble of who has the better team and better team comp. Things that are out of your control(when you can control the "team" aspect of the game, you will dominate. See last season's DynaBoostQ). You get an "offmeta" pick on your team, chances are you will lose. This isn't the same as "offrole". You can pick a meta champ and go everywhere. The gap between meta and nonmeta champs is so vast that you can do anything with meta champs if you're good enough. But picking something that's offmeta is just going to get you to lose. For those that are diehard mains of offmeta picks, the gap between meta and nonmeta champs becomes more apparent. You can be a god with Aatrox, and you can be a god with Yasuo. Who will have a higher winrate? Who will win the lane? Who will carry more? It's going to be Yas. Why? Because it's Yasuo, he's meta (for his own unique set of reasons; each meta champ has their own reason to be good) and Aatrox isn't. No matter what, when comparing two people of equal skill, it comes down to the champ.

You can't carry the teams anymore. It's a team game, and if your teammates are bad, even if you try to help them, you will still lose. Because they're bad. Riot will continue to implement and weigh "The team" more and more. It will only get harder and harder to solo carry.

For those that have played since the earlier seasons(S3, S4 etc.), you might recognize this.

#Drives towards the Team

Team-Based Champs(Kalista) Team-Based Mechanics Mechanism Rewarding Organized Play(Premading) Overloading and Creeping up(Mobility, Dmg,CC etc.) (Think about it: Once again, taking Yas as an example, you're going to need to work with the team to shut him down. You have to be good, and so does your team; perhaps a CC lockdown tank like Maokai in conjunction with a juggernaut like Darius) Fewer Wards per Person(You need EVERYONE to work together to ward, not just the support providing vision for everyone. To maximize vision, everyone needs to ward in certain areas) Placing More Value Towards Objectives(Adding Rift Herald for an Early Baron to get 2v2/3v3 Fights, Dragon for potentially 5 man fights even early on, making Elemental Drags to get more people to come rather than just ignoring the old drag, which just provided a gold bounty) Team-Based Items (A lot of these are support items, but you will need the team to work together to benefit the most off the strength of a ZZrot Portal) Making things based around teamfights(The last duelist was Fiora, there is rarely anything without a team-based gimmick(Ryze/Tahm/Kali) or making some aspect based around team-fighting; bullies have been watered down(Darius Garen ,Renekton is one of the few bullies left, in the traditional regard(aka not ranged tops; those have been present since Teemo ),Zombies end up on the nerf stick(Tryndamere Aatrox, Reworks tend to have taken away from the solo and 1v1 power and adding to teamfight power(Brand Poppy Sion )

#tl;dr Basically, to accommodate for all the "team" parts of the game that have been pushed, solo carrying can no longer be a thing. Most of the game will be won based on the performance of the team as a whole, and you can no longer viably be selfish in build path or playstyle.

Work with the team.

I saw a stream a few days ago of a master player absolutely crushing the low gold to mid plat tier. Every game was a smash, first blood from a few minutes in each game and getting fed incredibly quickly from then on. He was able to consistently destroy not only his lane but also the entire enemy team. For the win rate, he had about 75% (30+ games). Games were ending very quickly as well by surrender.

The games that he lost simply could not be won. We know what those games are like. But it's true that if you are good enough you can carry. It does feel more difficult than it was before however.

Dunkey put it best when he said that 'league of legends is a team game whereas in each game there are usually 3 competent players with 7 retards' the dice roll determining where those 3 players end up, is the determinant for the winning side.

True though the numbers are a lot less consistent and not necessarily... Retarded

Elo hell exists in one place . . . Ranked games

Matchmaking is insane in normal games too though.

Yeah, but in Ranked, you're"gambling", and risking something/playing for something you want.

Normals, while you will try to win, you don't lose anything when you lose, besides time.

They share the same problems, but ranked feels "more important to win" than normals. The significance of one single game for 10 different people leads to things that wouldn't happen in norms

I agree there about the serious mentality involved; too bad there's plenty of meta-maniacs floating around in normals trying to ruin other people's fun.

Elo hell exists indeed. It's in challenger. If one person trolls, you lose. Other elos, it's irrelevant.

Its the same just on different scales. 5 challengers vs 5 challengers and 5 gold vs 5 gold will experience the same difficulties when they have a "bad teammate"

It's not elo hell if you being better than your opponents leads you to win. Elo hell by definition is, no matter how good you are, you can't influence the game.

So a challenger player cannot solo all the way from b5 to challenger because "teamwork"? Lol

Yeah, they either abuse broken picks and refuse to play supportive roles or they duoQ until at least diamond1, playing with retards it's impossible, simply because they're not there to win, it's like trying to stop a drug addict doing cocaine, you can help him as much as he wants, if he's not the one that decides to stop no amount of your efforts will ever be enough.

I didn't say they can't win. But they will lose a lot more than they would've in previous seasons. They can't keep the selfish smurf attitude.
