Why does darius have 90%(ish) banrate in ranked?

I finally fought one in a game as ekko mid (he was top) and he tore our fiora apart. He "seemed" alot spookier than i remember later on in the game though. So whats going on with him right now is darius really that good/strong right now or is he just getting overbanned or whatever. P.s. i dont ranked often.

Edit)) I ended up watching this display of his reworked q ( https://youtu.be/QwqHZpwTS6Y ) not gunna lie his lategame looks pretty terrifying now. Seems like with fiora and darius running around Riven just isnt a safe pick?

Let me tell you a story. 3 of my teamates were chasing darius. He pulled all 3 of us into bush and healed of all 3. After that he dunked all 3.

i dont know, but theyre not banning malphite or lux. and its winning me a lot of games recently.

nothing as statisfying as bulldozing through a jinx without armor pen and her support when you have 4k health and 500 armor. with 700 armor lategame even the new thornmails passive becomes good enough to deal with vayne.

Darius not being available is helping with picks like that Malphite, and helping me play some stuff I couldn't otherwise. I don't care if he is broken or not, I am totally fine with him not being around to free up some champs he would counter otherwise.

lux sits at 56% winrate after her recent buffs. and malphite might be a nieche pick against mostly auto attack or ad heavy teams, but his lategame is ridiculously strong against the currently popular adc.

and thanks to adaptive armor, you can build him all out armor tank an still get enough mr to deal with 1 or 2 magic damage dealing champions.

Win rates aren't everything if I leave darius up he gets auto locked on the other team and we lose, if i lose lux up odds are meh if she gets picked and unlike darius she is actually hard to play so they might not know how to play her well

still 30 free mr. i wouldnt call that useless. on top of that you have 10% bonus from enchanted armor. and your mr/lvl runes. its usually enough for me. i get close to 700 armor with a full build on him.

not on malphite.

he gains 30% bonus armor as a passive from his w. i had just above 720 armor and 4k health in one of my recent games with him. no joke. enchanted armor also stacks multiplicative and recoursive with his % increase. at least thats how it worked with garens % bonus pre rework. the reason why i suspect its even possible for him to get that much.

meaning a thornmail gives him 100 bonus armor.

his w passive gives him 30 extra bonus armor from that

enchanted armor gives him 10% (13) bonus on the 130 (sum = 143)

and his w passive gives him another 30% on those 13 armor (4.33), (sum =147,33)

technically enchanted armor also gives him 10% on those 4.33 armor again.

you get the point.

so he gets about 147 armor from a thornmail. as you can imagine, it gets pretty crazy with a lot of armor items and runes stacked on top of each other.

12%missing hp heal on a 3 second cd per target he hits in an aoe that deals ~500 damage late game. (yeah thats one ability)

And

Bleed damage that can 50-0 u if 5 stacked

He's really strong.

If he's ban worthy because of how strong he is up for debate, but I think many people just hate laning against Darius in general. It's not a good time. Even old Darius was not fun to lane against, and I banned him simply because he was such a pain for a lot of champions I like to play.

I hear the same sentiment as well, and I have to admit, I hate the new Darius overpowered or not. That's partially because he's always going to be an annoying lane bully. I don't know how to quite describe it. It's weird that so many people have the seem feeling though. I do feel pity for people who main him and like to do draft pick though. It's almost as if you lose against Darius once or twice, and you never want to experience him when he's ahead again because he hits like a ton of bricks if he's able to get his hands on you. He's the Blitzcrank of top lane.

If he gets you, then you're going to eat a whole combo and it's not going to be pretty. If he doesn't however, he does fall behind quite easily. I've seen a few on my side fail to bully hard enough in lane, and they just became nearly unkillable and had little impact on the game. It just feels as if his kit is toxic for many champions that are popular in top lane, necessary or not.

An experienced Riven player can beat a Darius player without too much difficulty, but how many of those actually exist? That's a skill based matchup. Irelia and Fiora probably wouldn't be the best choices. They already had trouble against the old Darius, and the new one will just bully them endlessly when they need to get their farm and roam as soon as possible. They can still win, but it's going to be a medium to hard lane depending on how good the Darius player is, especially for Fiora since her early game is now weaker. Irelia has that convenient power spike with Trinity Force, but Darius can still harass her quite well until she gets Sheen.

If your team comp can handle an ADC top lane, then I'm sure Kalista or Quinn would be a great choice against him, but I doubt many people would understand that pick in draft. If you're an ADC main then you should know how to kite, and with Kalista it's easy. Gnar seems like he would be a decent pick as well. I'm guessing Teemo could get away with being a difficult match up for the majority of Darius players out there as well with his blind. Lulu could give him a rough time too, and she does for a lot of top lane picks.

I think it's best to stick to who you know best when facing a challenging opponent though.
