How to change Lee Sin; simple tweaks to make him less overbearing and his playstyle more interesting

Everyone agrees that Lee Sin is kind of overloaded champion with too much early game damage. He has everything in his kit, and Riot has said that they are looking ways to tweak his kit rather thank upfront nerfing him. So, I have thought of some small changes to tweak his playstyle a little bit, and define him better as a martial arts kind of champion. The changes also remove some unnecessary utility, and increases the risk for him to apply his full damage.

The TL;DR of the changes are:

  1. Add risk to using Q, and reduce its overall damage. Shift some of his damage to his tweaked passive.
  2. Reduce Lee Sin's early game upfront burst damage, and make it more sustained due to passive changes (little weaker early game).
  3. Higher overall ratios reward Lee Sin for building damage a little better.
  4. Allow him to transition better into the late-game (smoothen his power curve throughout the game).
  5. Make his playstyle a little more focused on being an auto-attack based bruiser with sustained damage (he is supposed to punch people more often doesn't he).
  6. Remove some unnecessary utility that overloads him.

Here are the changes in detail; numbers are experimental:

Passive: Flurry

  • AS bonus changed from 40% to 30%/40%/50%/60%/70% at levels 1/5/9/13/16
  • Now applies a mark on any target hit with either part of his Q or E for 2.5 seconds
  • Marked targets take bonus [10/20/30/40/50 (+10%/15%/20%/25%/30% bonus AD)] damage from Lee Sin's autoattacks at levels 1/5/9/13/16 *Context: new Passive scales with bonus AD to reward building damage, and give him a better late-game. It also makes him more of a sustained-damage bruiser. More attack speed late-game to allow him to maximize his passive's potential in the late-game.

Q: Sonic Wave

  • Damage reduced from 50/80/110/140/170 to 25/40/55/70/85
  • Scaling reduced from (90% bonus AD) to (60% bonus AD)
  • Energy cost increased from 50 to 80 Q: Resonating Strike
  • Damage changed from 50/80/110/140/170 to 65/90/115/140/165
  • Scaling increased from (90% bonus AD) to (120% bonus AD)
  • No longer deals 8% of the target's missing health
  • Energy cost reduced from 30 to 0
  • As a result, total damage is changed from [100/160/220/280/340 (+180% bonus AD)(+8% missing HP)] to [90/130/170/210/250 (+180% bonus AD)] *Context: Less base damage, and no more execute damage. Some of the damage lost has moved to passive. Also, the entire energy cost has been shifted to Sonic Wave to increase the price of using it without followup, and punish him for missing it. Sonic Wave also does less damage while Resonating Strike does a little more than before.

W - Iron Will

  • No longer grants Spell Vamp Context: Why Spell Vamp anyway? Why overload the champion?

E - Tempest

  • Now deals Physical Damage instead of Magic Damage
  • No longer grants true sight of targets hit Context: Make Lee Sin deal only 1 damage type please. And for the True Sight, it just overloads Lee Sin with too much utility. He already has it on his Q.

R - Dragon's Rage

  • Damage reduced from 200/400/600 to 150/350/550
  • Scaling reduced from (200% bonus AD) to (150% bonus AD)
  • Cooldown increased from 90/75/60 to 100/80/60 Context: Significantly lower rank 1 damage, and slightly higher cooldown. Rank 2 and 3 nerf is barely noticeable. Scaling nerf is because his enhanced autos scale with his bonus AD instead, which means damage is shifted elsewhere in his kit.

So, what do you guys think? Does he need more changes to accompany these? Does he need all of these changes? Thanks for reading this long post.

His E should remain as magic damage. Making his E deal physical would substantially increase his overall damage output because of the amount of armor pen he buys when in carry mode.

That's true. However remember that changing it to physical would make itemizing armor more effective against him. Also remember that the numbers on his Tempest ability can be tweaked accordingly.
