Aside from them tilting the playing field ridiculously hard - sorry that I can't win mid against a diamond jungler in Gold elo, I guess -, it's so stupid how there are barely any actual consequences to them flaming, inting, trolling or giving up whenever they decide they've had enough because "Idc it's not my main account go kys" Ban their IPs and their other accounts, do something to prevent this, climbing is already torturous enough.
doesnt help streamers smurf all day and support this. if streamers just played on their mains, higher elo wouldnt be so aids/long queue times and lower levels could be more balanced.
they see a streamer smurf and go 30-0 so go and do the same thing. people in silver smurf in bronze, people in gold smurf in silver, etc. its sad
They would have to actually have two factor to copy the DOTA model, probably not going to happen. I'm pretty sure their business strategy is to hope the game dies before people realize they are running their account security system with a model from 1999.
It makes RIOT tons of $$. They just don't allow it, they encourage it. The whole messed up matchmaking and MMR/LP mess is designed to ensure progress grinds to a halt after a certain number of games encouraging people to reroll. New accounts mean new boost, new champs, new skins, they can sell everything 2x... 3x... 4x... etc...
They have to fix Match Making and the whole Ranked LP gain system.
We are seeing the massive number of smurfs because Higher Elo's cant climb with LP gains of 8-14 and losses of 24-32
Riot royally screwed the pooch in S9 with their changes to Ranked.
Why would they? If 30% buy RP on the smurf account they make money.
Yeah this is a bitch sometimes. The ONLY excuse I could tell you for smurfing is if you got banned and are legitimately trying to start over and reform. These streamers/high elo players who play with people who are much lower skill than they are just need to be iced. It's not fair in the slightest. Imagine if a professional NBA player went and joined a middle school team and played, would you consider that fair? No, people would lose their damn minds over it. I think one of the biggest reasons non streamers probably do it is ego. They reach the highest rank they can get atm, get butthurt, and instead of practicing to get better and climb higher, they just go down to a lower rank where they can just stomp people.
Not saying any names but I know a whole server dedicated to selling challenger smurfs to Koreans and Chinese and they making bank off of it. Plus it keeps popularity in NA with those guys.
Just getting duos out of "solo" queue would solve most of the problems with smurf-related demolition of matchmaking and the competitive integrity of ranked play that we've all witnessed.
