Ping Idicator

Why isn't there a ping indicator (or at least a button that will give you a ping estimate) in the client so that people will know if they'll lag BEFORE they join a game? Obviously there's more than one way to lag ala packet loss and frame rate drop, but high ping is the most prevalent and easily detected.
