One simple change to Syndra to instantly make her viable again

Increase her ult cast range. It is horribly short range for no reason. Most of her kit is longer range than her ult making her go needlessly close and out of position to activate it

That's kind of the point. Her ulti has the potential to be a massive one-shot, so it makes sense that she'd need to get somewhat close to activate it.

yes, i would just love to be pointed and clicked for my entire healthbar from out of my entire kit's range with no counterplay

I think if her Q had a little bit more damage early she'd be better.

No... as one of her mains, def no.... there's a reason why it's relatively short range: it's a point and click nuke, she's required to get into close range, thus risk retaliation in order to get that massive burst of dmg/utility set up for a teamwide stun. The buffs she got are enough to make her "viable" tho she already was tbh... she just needed bugfixes and +5 movespeed increase, however the ones she did get, while not necessarily needed, are very strong: +10% more dmg on Q once fully leveled, and +15 base dmg at all levels of E alongside the previous buffs of +10 mana growth per level, and +10 dmg to ult at the last level up adds up to some pretty hefty buffs overall.
