Leona needs buffs

I get it, shes the binary easymode support for autofills to grab and play. But God she is straight garbage.

The main issue with her, is the snail speed of her Zenith Blade. Not only is it incredibly predictable, its incredibly slow, and makes counterplay to her engage extremely easy. Basically every CC in the game in a hard counter to her E if youre looking for it, which you should be if youre playing vs Leona.

Proposed buffs- Attach a small barrier to Zenith Blade that is scaled based on how many enemies are nearby. Make Leona immune to CC while she E's. That's all.

Leona is by no means easy. She has 0 escapes. IF she engages a bad fight, she's done. She doesn't have point and click shields to spam on her adc while playing from behind either. She has to get in the thick of it and prioritize the right target. A Leona who plays too passive in lane will also cause their adc to lose all pressure/cs and fall behind.

That being said, she does not need buffs. She is good at what she does. She has decent damage early and mid, amazing cc and very good inherent tankiness.

Her E, issue though, is a fair point. Leona already has a lot of counterplay, mentioned above and has a relatively short range dash, that is not the easiest to hit. If she hits her E, she should teleport to her target. Nothing more un-fun than hitting ur E on the enemy adc for a juicy kill only to get cockblocked by a thresh E mid dash.

But like, leona is kinda balanced now. If they do go ahead with this buff, she might be too strong. So why mess with something that's already fine?

So that she isn't so easily counterpicked and made irrelevant, and so that she isn't outshined by Alistar quite as much as she already is.

You make a fair point about how Leona shouldn't be rendered irrelevant in lane because of being counter picked due to her E mechanics.

Don't think Alistar outshines her, though.

Dude Leona is EASY as hell. The reason you think she's "hard" is because she's underpowered. Her kit is one of the easiest, if not THE easiest most binary kit in the game. Her only skill expression is knowing when to go in(Every champion has this to a degree) and even then you're probably going to die because of crappy outdated "all-in" mechanics.

Alistar W can't be cancelled right ? So why not Leona? Punish her on arrival but multiple dash engage got unstoppable because of to easy to counter. Leona relies on her E a lot. Thresh should be rewarded for cancelling dash that ain't unstoppable but right now he just have to flay mid E and you are done.

yh janna makes a really good leo counter since you just cancel her e with your q and even if you fail you can always just ult her. or take alistar he can just throw her away ... makes leona in my point often unsatisfying to play.

looking at her winrate alone across all elos.. it would imply Leona does not need buffs

and as of right now with her shiny new skin, her winrate is probably a but lower than it would normally be as her populatity jumped a bit with the skin release which generally lowers winrate

there isnt a single elo where she drops below 49.5%, she has historically been hovering at a 1-2% higher winrate than she currently is. but her winrate graphs chart is very jagged, and i think the biggest issue with her right now is just the fact that she relies heavily on armor.. which right now doesn't do jack shit past 10 min.. i feel if they address that issue.. Leona would be fine again.

i don't feel they need to touch her directly. not unless she drops lower than she is right now.

My gripe is that almost every single thing in the game counters her E mechanics.- Any mage with a CC(Outranges, and outspeeds her E, Can just be casted at Leona when Leona starts her incredibly slow E animation. Thresh can just pop her out of her E with flay. Alistar can just head butt her out of it. Morgana can Black shield it, or Dark Binding it. Zyra can root it. Pyke mechanics are so overloaded that he will just decimate a Leona lane for free. Lux roots her E. Draven knocks her out of E Vayne can condemn her E. Cait traps(assuming placed correctly) make Leonas E a death sentence.

Things Leona actually works against Jihn Ashe Soraka Sona Brand(but its a skill matchup) Kog'maw everything else has a distinct advantage over you.

There are VERY few bot lane matchups where its a good idea to pick Leona. And her E mechanics are WAY to high risk, so much so that I think they need a soft safety net like a Barrier scaled around how many enemies you are E'ing into.
