If you can't make your main champion effective in most games are you simply bad or are they weak?

##Note: i've been playing this champion for 3 years.

###This is something that i've been thinking about lately. The champion I am talking about is Varus Varus

Personally I think it's a bit of both, but I want to hear what you all think... If you want to hear more of why I think so or why I find him uneffective do ask.

I do think, that it's my fault here as well.

Blaming things such as miss-positioning, or not kiting effectively/properly is reasonable but with the amount of gap-closers that exist these days I don't find that to be a valid reason anymore when I come to think of it, even with all the Utility that he has (Slow & Root). I just find it difficult to make it effective, for the following reasons...

  • E; the zone's radius is too small allowing for quick exit, only lasts 4 seconds.
  • R; if i'm not wrong the spreading can be canceled if the first rooted target cleanses the effect.

Another reason why I think he's a hard champion to be effective with is because his main way of dealing damage (detonating Blight) has a delayed damage playstyle when you compare to a lot of other marksman who have a lot of burst potential. Varus in general feels very punishable to play than most champions because he can fall off really easily and very quickly if not played right at all times.

no, its completely valid. like I said the first time, varus is a HARD CHAMP to play and stay alive. It takes high amounts of map awareness, AND warding lots, AND appropriate use of his slow, AND a decent support. (edit: and you have to be able to farm very well)

If you dont have all of these, then varus is not the champ for you. Play someone else.

ADC in general is pretty weak right now, especially if you're playing an off meta champion in the role.

It depends.

I would consider different primary stat builds to effectively be different champions. So if you're unable to make a particular primary stat build work, but others do, then I'd say that the champion is weak.

And I've played AP varus without a massive change in effectiveness recently, so in this case, it's probably just that itemization is weak for him, not you're particularly bad
