Shen cooldowns

Can we increase his cooldown. I mean his kit allows him to avoid all attacks, and him at a high enough level just seems to spam it, in his own way. Just seems like a lot for a champion who already has high damage, a shield, can slow you down, and a move to do extra damage.

Shen is not even in the meta right now man, you really gotta pick on him when he's not strong enough to compete with any meta tanks?

Yeah, they really screwed Shen up with the rework. He sucks now.

All they had to do was Increase the CD on his Old Q and viola, fixed. Even more, they could have took the AP Ratio off his W (Shield) and made it HP Scaling so it wasn't 'useless'... even though it wasn't useless (the shield wasn't, the AP Ratio was).

But no, they do a Rework and take a Sustain Tank Split Pusher and make him some % Max Health Damage Gimmik Champion.

The shame of it is, he was rather balanced before. 3 different lanes at Pro Level Play, a high Pick/Ban but not an oppressive W/L%. He also had a variety of Builds and Roles he could play (Split Push, Fighter, Utility, Full Tank) in those varying Lanes.

There was literally no reason at all to Rework him, yet they did. Now he isn't often played and instead of being a Versatile Champion in a game begging for Versatility... he's now just another Champion 'Out of the Meta'.

I disagree and fund him very fun and quite effective going full tank. Done well against any non raged tops. But his niche is the global map presence, and mid-late when you are tanktown your taunt and proper usage of other assorted abilities can swing a fight.

Which is the problem... 'going full tank'. That's exactly my point of not being nearly as versatile as he once was.

He was quite effective going Full Tank before... but also Bruiser, Fighter, Utility. He had options both in Build and Play Style... now he doesn't.

That's my issue. I'm not saying he isn't effective... in his new 'niche role' he is. But he was Anti-Niche, and that was what made him great.

You see, nothing you said about New Shen didn't apply to Old Shen... he was already Global Map Presence, his Mid-Late was already huge, and his Taunt and Abilities already swung fights.

In that regard, they did nothing to 'improve' him at all.

We have an inferior version of Shen, attached to a gimmick mechanic and a love of % Damage that was never needed (his passive was enough 'bonus damage' to make him impactful previously).

Now he's a Tank that no longer has Sustain in his Kit... which is a bad thing.

I have played both Old Shen (a god among ninjas) and New Shen (an interesting change) and i do actually like New Shen.

Idk if ppl can see the sword connection line but they always seem to let them get hit by the slow.

I do still love his dash XD

The only good thing about the change was the Dodge... except they screwed it by making it AoE and centered on an Object instead of centered on Shen.

They could have swapped the Old Shield for the New Dodge, and centered the area on Shen (so if he dove the back line, his Team would need to follow into the back for the Dodge to apply to them... does Trist dive in while it's up or maintain position to stay safe once it's over? THAT would add layers.).

There was far more variety to play in his Q Mechanic... did you use it to Last Hit, thus increasing your CS as you pop 2 Minions at almost the same time? Good for you, gaining Gold... but can't Sustain or Poke now. Did you Poke to keep the Enemy away? Good for you, but now you are less effective at CS and can't Sustain. Did you Sustain? Good, but now you can't Poke or CS with it.

The only time that didn't matter is when you All-In Engaged. In Lane it was always a thought process of HOW and WHY to use your Q. The only issue was that the CD got to be VERY low, and thus oppressive in lane. Increase the CD and make Shen be more considerate of 'right place/right time'. But the sustain is small, so you can't be over-bearing with the CD either as he still needs to proc the Sustain multiple times over a Fight or Skirmish.

I do like the Dodge Mechanic, and if they wanted it attached to something... Ori's Ball seems perfect for that. Or a New Champion with a 'Focus' like Ori has. Could have even been something Syndra did with her balls, smashes something down on the balls with a certain Ability and AoE Zone of Dodge. But not Shen... it just doesn't fit very well, and the burst of Damage isn't needed.

Yea...i was a little upset when they removed his ranged Q...

I used that to harass enemies as support.

I admit it could be a bit Oppressive, especially in a Solo Lane... hence the suggestion to increase the CD on it to make each choice more impactful. But the Sustain Element of it was huge to Shen. It was mostly a Poke Tool as a Support, which is fine as well, and the fact that Support Shen built more for Utility allowed things like Rylia's for a Slow when you Q, making Chasing and Kiting to Disengage way stronger. You can still Kite, but you have to get ahead of the enemy to 'Catch' which sort of means you've ALREADY caught them thus defeating the purpose, and you lose the Sustain.

The entire idea of a Ninja is that he comes to you to eliminate you... now Shen needs you to come to his AoE Zone instead. Like a Ninja sending you a message "Hey, if you could meet me here, I'm being paid to kill you" instead of simply making his way to the Target for Elimination.
