A question on Yasuo's tornado

Bultz··1 votes·1,011 views

So Yasuo is normally played ad, but I wanted to have a bit of fun and go ap on him. When i went ap, only his e had ap damage, his tornado had no ap damage at all and i was wondering why? if his dash has ap damage, why wouldn't his Q?

AD or AP scaling aren't bound to a "logic" but to how the character is supposed to build.

You can check lolwiki to know about the scalings of skills.

yeah, but if one wind attack does ap damage, why wouldn't another?

...Read again.

They don't want Yasuo's E scaling with what he's supposed to build.

again, he already has ap and it scales, so why not on his tornado?

By that logic, windwall should do ap damage

Because they don't want an AD Yasuo's primary damage skill to benefit from any AP he happens to get from say Baron buff or Lulu's Whimsy.

Because he's ad.

yeah, but his e is ap? so why wouldn't his tornado have ap also?

Yasuo's dash deals magic damage and scales with AP so that it doesn't benefit from his core damage stats (AD, armor penetration, crit chance, attack speed). The fact it has any AP scaling is mainly so that it still gets a small benefit from things like Baron buff.

I agree it's weird that Q3 doesn't have any AP scalings, particularly given that's Janna's Q establishes that wind tornados are an 'ap' thing. (Much like GP ult and mf e establish that cannonballs are 'ap'.)

I guess they don't want items like rageblade or old trinity force (when it gave ap) to be OP on him. A little bit of AP scaling on 'ad' champs is ok just so people don't feel like they "can't" buy hybrid items, but with too much suddenly those hybrid items feel like a necessity.
