I think Riot's testing something with the missions...

Both 5-man missions. The one two weeks ago was the all-melee team. The one this week is the all-teleport one.

Both seem like trolling ones, right? Well. Most of us found the 5 melee team to be surprisingly easy (as far as I know of, at least), and I believe the all-teleport one will be found to be easy, too.

But that's not what I'm talking about here. Well...it is. Kinda.

To understand what I'm getting at, let's look at the boards. There was one primary complaint around the time they would have been making the missions: Marksmen are mandatory. Even when they sucked ass, they were still mandatory. And before, there was a similar complaint about flash.

Everyone thinks marksmen are mandatory. Everyone thinks flash is mandatory.

...What if Riot's collecting data on whether or not this is actually true?

With the melee mission, it showed that it's possible. Riot saw this, and likely determined that it is possible for non-ranged teams to win. With the current mission, it's going to require that the jungler not have flash (as a jungler is absolutely incapable of not having flash). It's likely going to be proven to be true as well.

It's also possible that this is Riot's way of showing to us first-hand that these things are false. Which sounds more convincing? Them simply saying "no, guys, trust me. Marksmen aren't mandatory", or them having us prove it to ourselves, by having us win without any ranged champions at all?

Just some thoughts of mine. Make of them what you will.

The whole mission thing is new to Riot and they have stated that it's all a learning experience from them about what we like and what we don't like. What works and what doesn't. So all in all, every mission is a test from Riot to see what missions we like more, which ones work best, which ones they should make more of. Etc etc

Oh. There's that, too. But that's not what I meant.

I meant those two specific missions, not missions in general.

I know what you meant, but I was meaning in general they're all an experiment. There could be something more to it! You never know!

Yeah but you also have to understand that these are always in the form of 5 man premades. Of course a 5 melee team is possible when you're in a 5 man premade, the majority of successful attempts at the mission I saw (including my own) primarily involved cheesing the hell out of an enemy with a coordinated 4-5 man level 1 gank and otherwise unorthodox plays that you wouldn't have the coordination to do in soloQ.

That, and teams abusing Kayle as a replacement for the ADC.

Nah. We won without any serious cheese.

Well...there was the AP Nasus mid...But besides that.

Camille top (normal), Xin jg (normal), AP Nasus mid (odd, but could have been replaced by anyone), Blitz support (normal), Morde APC (odd, but not completely out of normality). No camping. No level 1 cheese. No insane coordination. No special, global curbstomp (Camille lost lane pretty hard to a Jax). Bot just got fed (as is prone to happen with Blitz in botlane), and they surrendered when I was basically unstoppable (Nobody managed to be able to 1v1 me, because I was 7/2/7 at the end).

No special, unorthodox plays. Hell, Blitz/Morde is a combo exploited by Rubrik and MM in masters.

for me it was a normal game except in the botlane, where u just chose melee champs with some range, then in teamfights you just steamrolled everyone cuz there was no backline to protec XD

THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T DO THIS SHIT ANYMORE AND HERE THEY ARE STILL DOING IT. FUCK OFF RIOT [sg-shisa]

They did?

I think they said they'd change how they did it or something. I don't think they said no more premade missions.

Besides, this kind of mission would be toxic if it was allowed to be done outside of a premade.

Both missions are troll but when in 5 men Riot thinks it's not troll. So why don't bring back the 100 AD Lux mission but make it in 5 men prem? It won't be troll anymore, right?

This statement is what makes me angry.

i really hope youre not right. because that statistical data about the 5 melee missions is shit useless.

i could play ap garen in normals and probably still win after a couple games.

normal games are made up with a mix of players of wildly different skill ranges, with most of them not really giving a shit and just playing whacky crap for fun, instead of playing competitive.

prove to me that you have the same chance at winning a game with a non meta comp at plat+ mmr when playing against a meta comp and THEN ill be statisfied.
