Fax your senators, call your representative, protest in front of your Congressmen's homes...

...Do whatever it is you need to do to support Net Neutrality.

This is one thing we do not want to let die. Every gameplay issue, no matter how much you hate EA, no matter if you prefer PC, Mac, Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo, or prefer mobile games. Doesn't matter if you pay or pirate. FPS, MOBA, MMORPG, or whatever you like. Stream on Twitch, Youtube, or whatever.

##It's all irrelevant.

#This affects all of us.

Sure, at the beginning, it'll just be some companies charged extra, or will have to get less speed.

Which could easily cripple indie and other small companies. Anyone trying to start out is royally screwed. They're either forced to pay more than they can afford to, or deal with cripplingly slow internet.

However, a month or two later, it'll be everyone else it'll be applied to. It won't just be Youtube, Google, and everyone who's a company.

It'll be you, me, and everyone else. The end user. The consumer.

They will intentionally throttle our connection, unless we pay far more than we do now.

#They'll legally be able to fuck us over.

So do whatever it is you can. Go just short of harassing your senators and representatives. Do whatever you can. Yell at your friends to harass them.

Or else...Well...I hope you don't enjoy playing games. Or watching videos. Or browsing memes.

Or using the internet in general.

If it does go through, maybe being a door to door salesman could become a career option again, because nobody could afford to browse the web for goods.

should revoke the clause making telecom companies immune to anti trust laws.

or you know, keep stacking regulations to deal with old ones

This is why we can't have nice things.

Here's a screenshot from the payment page of a carrier in Portugal, where there are not net neutrality protections.

This is what we can look forward to if the US no longer protects net neutrality. Companies will not protect net neutrality, and the "free market" will not stop them, as there is no true competition.

You really took a good size bite out of the conspiracy theory apple.

Corporatism would be greater if this net neutrality stands, in the form of government lobbying.

Repeal net neutrality and allow free market competition to be the safety net against ISP control.

Though, net neutrality is an interesting term since it already exists within a deregulated free market system anyway. No ISP has an incentive to intentionally screw a customer when that customer could just find a different ISP.

The term net neutrality would become a paradox if we allow too much government intervention.

Im in full support of Net Neutrality, but I wouldn't assume that they are going to do the whole "packaged prices" thing. However, the problem lies in the fact that a lack of Net Neutrality is incredibly broken in the US, which suffers from extreme cable monopoly in large areas, and an atmosphere that leads to almost zero competition among ISPs, which means there's no protection for the consumer when it comes to practices that influence data usage. NN is necessary because it is what guarantees that the end user can access the site they want, without the requirement of additional pay, without the risk of discriminatory speed influence (I.E they cant make you go slower compared to other users).

TL'DR While it technically isn't necessary, the current state of cable and internet monopolies in the US essentially mandates some form of Net Neutrality be maintained in order to protect consumers and prevent the abuse of monopolized forces.

Anyone who doesn't support net neutrality watch the "Informative Murder Porn" episode of South Park. THOSE are the people who want to have control of the internet, the cable companies. If that doesn't shock you to your senses nothing will.
