That heal made her nearly unstoppable in the early phases of the game. You're not expected to 1v1 the enemy jungler (which you can currently do with your base damage unless it's called Warwick or Nocturne). Graves? You can 1v1 in his own jungle. Shyvana? You can 1v1 her too. Kha'Zix? Yup. Rengar? Nope. But why not Rengar? Because he can gap close you immediately and can heal off your burst after landing E. The pattern is pretty obvious that sustain beats Kindred 1v1 early.
Her base damage allows you to half health anyone on a gank, and if the jungler decides to go take Raptors at the start of the game when it's not optimal for them to do it, you get a free kill because of the half health rule. I do not know where people get this idea that her base damage is low other than them using crappy rune page setups. If you're not going high attack speed then yeah, your clear will be horrendous. That's a player knowledge issue, not a champion issue. That's always been a problem on Kindred with how players know so little about how to actually play her. The heal also made Kindred's entry phase into the jungle harder because you needed to know how to kite mobs even better than you would have to do right now. So you'd be exacerbating the issue yet again by bringing it back.
The primary issue with Kindred in this current meta is that she is EXTREMELY predictable and you have to mindgame the enemy on a champion that gives the idea of "mark them and kill the intended target at around the time you select them." You cannot "reflex marks" because they take so long to activate on a champion, meaning that you need to set everything in advance and hope your laners don't screw it up. I cannot tell you how many Marks I've missed because the activation was too slow and now I need to wait to select someone else or camp the same lane.
Now pair the above with meta junglers who are NOT blatantly describing to the enemy what they intend on doing, and there you go. Predictable jungler, predictable plays, and requires items to scale into the game. If Graves was the same, he wouldn't even be meta because of the same issues of needing items to scale. This also means if you know how to play around that predictability to make the enemy jungler waste their time, you're going to be dominant. And that's exactly what good players with Kindred have been doing for a while now.
