Tell your teammates that wards help you set up #LC$BIGPLAY$ LeeSin

There's actually a very good solution to that problem.

Get out of bronze/silver/gold.

Okay, how do I get to Plat+? I couldn't care less about my team's warding if we win.

Find three or more champions you're really good at and try to keep them on three roles.

In the middle of Season 3 when I started playing ranked I just spammed jungle Lee, J4, and Vi and climbed to Plat 1 in like 2 months. I quit after getting to 60 LP because there used to be LP clamping in Plat back then.

There's no need to be good at every single. Why should you need to be the jack of all trades when you can invest all that practice into three champions and play them at a very high level. You can develop your skill at other roles when you get to an elo you like. It's probably not as easy as I make it sound. I've seen people with like a heaving 500 games and still in Bronze, so I guess they're not doing something right or I just got lucky climbing.

I didn't watch streams often but when I did, I just watched past scarra broadcasts on YouTube because he almost never streamed at the time. I'm pretty sure those broadcasts aren't relevant anymore and you can just go to scarra's official channel now to check out all his games. Scarra explained pretty much everything he did and improved my gameplay significantly.

and what do you do when you can't play that role for whatever reason? Dodge?

No. I just knew the basics for every lane, being mostly proficient at Top and support. The things you had to do in Season 3 were different from now, but these are generally what you do now in Season 5.

Top: Trade/Freeze lane if I can. Teleport back to lane and don't die often if I get behind. Get every CS I can. Don't take too much damage getting CS. Kill enemy laner if I can. Gank other lanes if I can. Put pressure on dragon by having teleport up.

Mid: Get CS. Peel/poke/kill/clear waves if I'm ap mid mage like Xerath, lux, ziggs Roam often or try and kill enemy midlaner if I'm assassins like LB/Fizz/Kat. Kill high priorities/splitpush if I'm something AD assassin like Zed, Yasuo, Talon.

Jungle: This one's a bit harder.

Buy pink wards and wards and ward for your midlaner because they can't ward for themselves. Get deep wards(at their wraith bush, at the bush near their wolves, bush on outside of redbuff wall near baron/dragon pit, etc.) in enemy jungle so team knows where enemy jungler so they can play without pressure of enemy jungler, or pull off a countergank because you know where enemy jungler is going to gank.

Kill the scuttle crabs. The one at baron pit is especially important early because it cuts off a huge gank path toward top lane, and lets your top laner play with relief.

Gank lanes through smart paths that you know aren't warded. Assess the situation of your lanes before you gank. Watch out for the following:

  • You have no idea where enemy jungler has been for a little while. If he counterganks you in any of the following situations, you're done.
  • Your laner/laners are low health and the enemy laner could turn the gank on you
  • Your laner is weak/far behind and has zero follow up and the enemy laner could easily run away or turn the gank on you
  • You want to gank enemy top laner but dragons about to spawn/enemy can take dragon as soon as you show yourself fighting at top because bot lane is pushed towards you guys or your midlaner/bot lane is backed or dead because jungler saw you top and ganked bot/mid

If your toplane Gangplank is 0/2 against enemy Riven, you're not going to get anything out of that. Gangplank has weak damage/followup and Riven will most likely walk away, or kill one or both of you, or enemy jungler will countergank and will overpower you because Gangplank is so weak.

ADC: CS and learn to position in fights. Trade smartly in lane and you have to know the matchups. If you're Ashe/Janna, it's likely you're going to get destroyed by a Draven/Thresh if you play too aggressive.

Support: Buy your support item, then get things from the following: sighstone, red trinket, locket, mikael's, tank items, pink wards, ap items if you're annie/morg and want to do damage. Peel for your ADC or try to pick off important targets if you're someone like Blitz, Morg, Annie, Thresh, etc.

No. As long as you know the basics of how to play a lane, you can play decent on any champion.

For top lane I just picked champions that I've played before like Riven, Singed or were just braindead easy like Malphite.

Same for mid, I picked Swain, Gragas because I played them before and Kat/Annie because they were easy to play at my elo.

For support, I picked Blitz or Janna. Janna was a completely uncontested pick at the time and also braindead easy to play so she was just my backup if Blitz was banned/taken.(It was at a time when Blitz was still banned at Plat V~) Blitzcrank was just a comfort pick because I just happened to be good at him. He's still my 3rd most played champion I believe in Season 4 and this season. I've seen Janna bans go down significantly recently so if you're going to be supporting and want to be useful, just go for Janna because there's no challenge in playing her effectively.

ADC was my worst role but I just picked Graves because he was never played at the time so there was no risk of anyone taking him from me. As soon as Lucian released, I played him instead of Graves. They were more ability-focused and bursty than other carries, which I liked a lot. They're both pretty mobile, which let me fix my positioning errors

I also played Tristana because she was easy to play. CS. Press E on enemies in lane. Jump in and ult to kill when I think I can. Mid game just use resets and autoattacks to get kills. Late game just abuse massive range to autoattack and ult away/jumpaway.

I'm saying that there are champions in this game that take hundreds of games to get right and some that only take one or two before you can play them at an effective level. Significant examples would be Annie, Malphite, Darius, etc.

LCS players are using Greater Stealth Totem, there's hope.

Unfortunately, Pink Wards are still underappreciated, or not bought beyond the token laning phase pink ward..
