Takes too long to earn champions

Why did the change how getting currency works? It takes ages and ages for any new players to unlock a few champions, let alone all of them. I seem to get no EXP towards leveling up from playing matches too, like 30+ minute games give what... 150 exp? I shouldn't have to play for several hours to level up once just to get 500 essence. You really need to look into this system again Riot, because it's terrible. I just want Aurelion Sol... I shouldn't have to spend a week to earn him.

Same here. It takes ages for me to level up and when I do, all I get in my champion capsule is fkn Morgana who disenchants for fuck all.

The time it takes to unlock champions has always been too long.

It's just as bad as it's always been.

The only thing I'm pissed about is how they removed the champ shard rerolling thing, since that was a really efficient way to unlock champions.

The system wanted to reward everyday players, so they could keep a decent amount of the playerbase remembering to keep coming back. The new BE system promotes new champions to newbies more than anything. According to Riot's own charts, newcomers would get more currency to spend, get more champions as part of their initiation to the game. For high-level players though, the amount of EXP it takes to level up is INSANE, and you'll probably end up losing all around. Though if you used to play a game a day, and only once that day, the system definitely feels better.

This system makes me sad, as someone who doesn't play on weekdays and just spams the hell out of weekends. I even had to create this account (Smurf) just because I had already hit lvl30 and wanted to play support. I couldn't even afford to buy one by two weeks, in the hard-grind style.

This system is not rewarding to new players. It takes a long time to level up - taking several matches by level 9+. I'm like level 17, and it'll take me probably all night to level up. That's not for 'every day players who are new' - it's a grindfest that feels like they're trying to force you to buy the champions with RP, which are ridiculously overpriced (I had to pay 10 bucks just to unlock bard, and didn't have enough for anything else)

That's exactly why they implemented it. They wanna keep you playing the game, and when you get impatient, you'll buy RP, and that gives Riot money.

That's because they changed the system. If you adhere to the "One Game A Day", you actually level up at a considerable rate. People playing many games non-stop got MUCH WORST with the update.

I don't know why you're being downvoted. You're not telling your opinion, you're stating how the system works.

You can't just throw statements like these out without any evidence or statistics. According to Riots own statistics, (a post you can find in the Dev Corner from a few months ago), the majority of people will earn more blue essence, than they earned IP.

Are you sure it's not just the new system feeling like it earns you less, instead of it actually earning you less? Also, remember to take runes into account when you compare the old system to the new.

The main problem I have with it, personally, is that once you start leveling up more, it takes longer to level up and get the chest with (approximately 600, since the past 3 have been a 3150 champion I already owned and poppy) BE when previously I could get that in what? 7-8 matches? Which is what it ~ what it takes at my current level to level up but.. I dread when I actually start to hit the higher level, where I'd get more BE from just having higher honor.

Davaken1 votes

I'm not too sure what you mean by that, levelling stops getting overall harder once you reach level 50. I suggest reading the post Riot made about these, which also shows a comparrison between the new and old system: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/developer-corner/hAaYMrEs-leveling-and-rewards-early-impressions-and-adjustments

Riot is a business before it's a games developer. Their interests of making money come before them making a meaningful and enjoyable product.

Do you not remember how fucking long it took for the IP system as well? A 30 minute game would give around 80 ip, so it would take you around 40 hours of playing to unlock 1 single 6300 champion. This new system is pretty much always faster, and better for new players assuming they aren't playing league 24/7 because of the big XP bonus from FWOTD

I 'member my grind to get Talon when I started playing, took me three weeks to get 4800 IP

I've played on average about 2 games per day for about 5 games per week in the past 2 months, and I've made close to 15k blue essence doing it. In the old system, I'd expect to make half of that, maybe 10k ip with first wins included. This system feels a lot faster compared to the old, perhaps your memories have sped up.

If we're looking at price, you've only made enough essence to buy 2 champions lol - in 2 months

Which is better than the old system.

Especially since most of that would of went to buy runes.

Yes. And my entire point was that it was the same with the old system as well. We aren't looking at the rate, we're looking at how the rates have changed. Getting champions has always taken forever.

in the old systen if you spammed games you could get 2 6300 in a month.

you don't need to think deep or hard to understand why

it's because they know it makes more money

H00KIE1 votes

They need to fix prices on champs as well, why are champions who are 3+ years old still 6300? Zac came out in what, 2014?

SanKakU1 votes

They are avoiding the permanent champion price reduction by coming out with new champions and calling it a rework when they really just removed a champion from the game and replaced it with another.

Thats BS

...what? Theyve done what 8 of those?

Stop spreading BS.

5 champions later, Zac finally gets his price reduction, he's on the list... I'm not making this up. https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/202083304-Permanent-Champion-Price-Reduction

But this system is still stupid. If a character is out for over 2 years, their price should go down. It shouldn't be based on this stupid "we reduce when we release" bs, especially since the devs have slowed down on releasing champs.

SanKakU1 votes

Yeah, it's probably time they make changes or at the very least apply the reworks to the list...they gotta do something because it isn't working. I have like roughly half the champs, mostly cheap ones, and I think more than 90 percent of the champ shards I get from leveling up are champs that I already own, and when I hold onto one that I don't even want(Kled), I get a duplicate of that, too.

mangustination1 votes

well you dont need all the champs do you ? from 90 i own i play 10 max

Saibbo1 votes

pff?? I got more champ in pre-season than in the entire season 7

Häxel1 votes

wait, wait...are you forgetting how leveling in ealrier seasons was? it taked sure double as long as it is not. And you got a 6300 champion after 1 or 2 weeks if you not played excseive games a day. I get far more be on a new account and champions faster as i got when i startet 2013.

Jaynin1 votes

I play like 5 games every day and the system is way slower than before. Takes more than one day to level up and im not even level 30 yet. The games grindy and grindy games are always bad. Shards are a random thing so if i want something i have to pray i win the fucking lottery.

SLU xKitex1 votes

Guys. Stop complaining the IP system was much more of a grind for one. I think you only see the BE system as slow because you don’t see the BE constantly increasing. Also leveling to 30 took literally 4 months of playing alll the time, it’s a ton easier now. No matter what people do you people are never satisfied do yourselves a favor and get the hell of riots boards...
