I don't think the Garen nerfs are enough

I'm so sick of being in games where Garen builds all tank, has 5k health and still does the most damage in the game...

#Balance.

Edit 1: A lot of people have pointed out that Garen needs to be able to do damage to be a threat as a tank, this is a fair point/ However, it becomes a bit ridiculous when he is doing more damage than a champion who is buying straight AD/AP. Same with going a mix of offense and defense, if you are building both you should do both moderately well. It is a bit unbalanced when he is doing both INSANELY well (consistently the most damage in the game as well as the most damage taken).

Edit 2: And a point I should have made clearer is that the nerfs are ALSO not getting at Garen's real problems. His movement speed is a bit on the high end, sure and this nerd should help, but the problem is that it doesn't matter how much you kite him you will basically never kill him, and god forbid he ever get's close enough to you, you die instantly.

Did you really make a thread about nerfs not being enough before the patch was even out? Did you guys not learn from skarner? You also cried for buffs several times while he was still on pbe and not live, what did we get ? 70% winrate champion. Stop.

He doesn't build ALL tank. He builds BC... which has offense and defense mixed into it.

Having Health doesn't make you a tank it just means you have a lot of health which any carry can get through very easily.

They aren't enough. He's still got the #1 win rate of all champs according to op.gg.

I guess we'll have to see what new meta arises from "how to counter Garen" this patch :/

He clearly needs to still be a damage threat (since he isn't a tank, he has to do more damage than them to make up for his relatively low CC)

What if his ult was changed to be something like 50/75/100% magic resist ignore (effectively making it true damage at level 16) to the villain. I'd personally remove the % max health true damage on villains alltogether and replace it with some other kind of bonus (maybe increased sticking power when attacking a villain; E.g: An onhit slow of some kind)?

Base damage and ratio wise I think Garen is fine.

he generally builds a mix of damage and defense.

and there are multiple reasons why he deals that much damage. first of all, a lot of his damage is aoe. second, he usually trades repeatedly with high health targets in top lane. this accumulates to a lot of damage in the endgame statistic. third, instead of peeling and kiting you either tried to fight him head on, or let him get to the fuckin villain.

i actually think the double nerf to his mobility is overdoing it. and no one but cho builds 5k fucking health in this game. especially not a garen who needs some offense and utility items in his build to be effective.

so good day, sir.

an on hit slow is useless for garen, since he doesnt auto attackk a lot. if i wanted that id just build mallet.

Should've been more clear, it would be an on-physical damage slow (think Phage / Cleaver's passive)

i still dont see the problem. its 10% for a full spin. thats like 1 vayne w proc.he doesnt dish out this damage every 2 seconds.

I personally dont see a problem either but apparently hes absurdly strong at all elos. There must be something causing that high winrate

most damage is due to villain mechanic... he is anti-carry champion....

i usually build ult/tank item on new garen because he lose tenacity so it would be difficult to dive into team... old garen is much better tho...
