Why can you not interrupt Jarvan E,Q?

Can you guys do something about it? Why in the world can you not interrupt his E,Q. Maybe if we could interrupt his E,Q Jarvan would actually have more counterplay.

You can bodyblock Gragas E, Block Sejuani Q, etc.

But when it comes to Jarvan E,Q it has to be pulled off. Like why?

He gets chain CC, still can do E,Q He gets knockback in the middle of his E,Q still goes off.

Because it’s not technically a dash.

The EQ combo is a unique interaction where if he hits the flag with his lance, then he pulls himself towards it. Neither of those abilities on their own can be interrupted. Because of how it’s set up, it doesn’t allow the combo to be either.

As is mentioned by others, the E Q is not a dash. Honestly, I am curious as to why he can do it but Naut (who has to hit a wall) is unable to use his Q until the duration of a root is done.... but that i can come up with an explaination as well.

On the otherhand, it is not his E Q that is uninteruptable. It is his ultimate. You can knock him out of EQ easily, but his ultimate is uninteruptable. No cc will stop him. He can buffer the ultimate to happen as he is mid EQ as well, which could be why it SEEMS like he cant be.

Good Question.

Its pretty unintuitive.

Doesn't Flay and other knockbacks stop it?

Nope, if he E,Q even if you knock him back he will still have it pull him to the flag.

That is for the same reason Naut can toss his hook, be pulled by Blitz, and then the hook hits a wall and yanks him out of Blitz's pull. It is a delayed dash.

Same with Tristana's jump and Ezreals blink if timed right. There is a half second delay on Ezreal's blink for cast time, and a 1 sec for Tristana's jump for cast time. The dash still goes through if the cc happened before the Q actually connects with the E.

Janna is more than able to interrupt his EQ with her Q (and I think her R). I don't really know about other displacement effects, though, as I don't really have much experience playing champs that have those effects while playing against J4.

So here's the thing with Jarvan E -> Q. A lot of CC can actually disrupt it (primarily knock ups/backs). However, Jarvan can also time his E -> Q so that he Q's right before he's hit by CC, then the movement that occurs when his Q hits his E overrides the CC (all types of CC).

TL;DR - CC him during his Q - > E dash or he will time his E -> Q combo so that it overrides your incoming CC.

you can interrupt it but you need to do it during the dashing part, not when he's casting Q. Same thing as Tristana W
