Windwall

What if windwall was changed so that:

  • it has 5 seconds of CD
  • it dissipates immediately upon reaching its max range

It would still work as a last second reflex and would still be able to block ultimates, but would need very good timing and wouldn't completely cut off an entire team from the fight.

As a compensation it could have a much shorter cooldown, meaning that its power shifts to multiple well-timed procs to block critical spells instead of a single big one eating everything.

The entire purpose of the wall is to fight in/around it with the extra part being able to instantly block things on cast not the other way around

True, but it seems that the "extra" part is also the "fun" and "flashy" one. Thus, this suggestion: since Yasuo players don't seem to want to give up that "extra part" to make the wall less frustrating to play against, simply do the opposite by keeping that "extra" part and removing the original purpose instead.

Not a bad idea, but with ping being a factor in the game, having the uptime of windwall be too low would be quite dangerous. Also, I'd argue that's stronger than the current windwall.

Yasuo would never be CC'd by any spell ever as he'd just save his windwall for lux Q, Zoe E, or Ahri E. A good yasuo would not let CC land on him. Cooldown is technically a resource and having the ability on a long cooldown is how the developers gave counterplay to yasuo. If you bait his windwall out, you can harass him freely as he has low health, is melee, and has no innate sustain.
