5/9 PBE Update

Tentacle Smash (Q): [Heal increased to 15% from 5%] [Passive's healing effect can now only happen once very 20 seconds]

As much I as I don't want to jump on 'It's a NERF' train before anyone even tests these changes, it really seems a heavy-handed way to nerf her teamfight sustain to buff her lane sustain(However slightly).

Can a Red shed light on why this was put on the PBE?

Well, now it seems a bit better. But still, 5% with no CD seems a lot better then 15% every 4 seconds, at least to me, although the potential of healing 90% of your missing hp by hitting 6 tents is a nice concept.

It's not intended to be a nerf, Red posts have been made about the change and its intentions.

For starters, a 15% missing hp heal from one tentacle slap is insane, cooldown or not. The times when it's not better are when you get a silly number of enemies inside a silly number of tentacles, and even then it's still really good because by lategame the cooldown gets really really low.

However, moving this power from Illaoi's high points (everyone standing in the tentacle pit) to her low points (one or two enemies and they are smart enough to dodge some of the time) allows her to not be so feast/famine in games and can get an overall increase in performance without becoming a champion that gets to 1v5 about as often as she doesn't. Note also that they lowered the cooldown of her W on the PBE to 4 seconds at all ranks which is strictly a power increase all around and gives her better constant threat in a team fight.

Moobeat hadn't fully documented the change. It's limited to once every 20/16/12/8/4 seconds, based on rank in the ability.

And it's clearly happening so that they can balance her to be useful outside of her 1v5 pentakill scenarios.

The problem with this concept is it does nothing to address her primary issues (animation speeds, tentacle spawnrate/killability) that render her so inconsistent. However I believe part of the intent is to open room for such improvements.
