A question about Kalista

Hey guys! So I was an adc player back in season 3/4, and made it to gold during that time. Afterwards taking a break through season 5, I started again recently. I was looking to get back into the adc role, and started looking into Kalista. I'm fully aware that she's garbage tier at the moment because of many nerfs, but I really enjoy her gameplay and support synergy. I was playing her in a few normal games and bot games yesterday when I noticed something weird about her ultimate.

Why does it deal no damage? I mean, based on my limited knowledge of league, most hard CC abilities have some sort of damage to them right? It's awesome how her ult can save your support or engage with them, but why make it deal absolutely no damage? It strikes me as a low key malphite ult, at least in the sense that you send someone to face bomb anyone they want to.

Is there a reason that it has no damage at all? Just curious.

Balance. It would put too high a power budget on her ult if it made your ally untargetable gave them free repostioning and a knock up and damage

Do you think she's balanced in her current state? I'm definitely still learning to manage her passive and find ways to transfer her rend stacks, but with how weak everything thinks she is, I don't think a low scaling AP type damage would make her OP. Especially since it's one of the only hard CC abilities without any form of damage.

No, she's gutter trash and absolutely worthless right now. Almost every single ADC in the game is better than her.

The issue is with a passive like hers which allows for extreme mobility, her synergy with Runaan's, the % health between her and her Oathsworn, her vision capabilities, and her ultimate which can completely decide a teamfight, if she's good in non-professional play, then she'll be a monster in professional play.

In her current state, do you think someone with exceptional skill with her can do good? Or would it just be a better option to spend that time getting better with other carries?

It'd be better to just learn another ADC. She's unlikely to get buffed any time soon, and knowing Riot, they'll probably make the logical decision of nerfing her again. Or she might face a complete rework, which will change things anyways.

I do really good with Kalista, the thing is you have to learn how to build her multiple ways, how to play certain match ups, and how to position in team fights. The answer is if you are exceptionally good at her, she is one of the best you will find, if you are every other ADC main she is horrible.

I find Kalista players generally ult me at the wrong times. They often interrupt my abilities, don't actually need to save me from danger, and aren't making a good engage opportunity. In close to a thousand games I've played, I've had maybe one good Kalista player. So personally, I think she is a very difficult champion for players to master.

Don't bother with Kalista if you haven't already mastered her. Play any other ADC and learn how to kite properly instead of having the game do it perfectly for you every time and letting you hop walls while doing so. She's a cancerous champion and Riot (hopefully) won't buff her without reworking her passive at the very least, and she is outdone by every other ADC at everything other than being an annoying little shit.

Because it would make her too strong, an ability that can instantly save a stunlocked support and also give them a ticket to the middle of the enemy team doesn't need damage. Gut her passive then we can talk about increasing her damage
