I feel really bad for new players

Hey everyone!

Recently I've been leveling an account that I'm planning to one trick, just for fun. Now I'm clearly not a good player, I've peaked at gold 5 twice and these placements threw me back into silver.

However, while leveling my new account (level 27 now) I've noticed a common trend. It seems every single game I play, the lobbies are loaded with diamond and platinum players. I'm enjoying the time where I can learn from these people, because obviously they outclass me in skill by a large margin.

It makes me sad though, because I see games daily where a new player which isn't even level 30 yet is getting paired into level 30 diamond players. I know the normal/ranked queues are different MMR, but , I highly doubt these players have the normals MMR of a level 20 beginner league player.

The matchmaking system is pretty good at sifting new players and smurfs apart.

Generally, new players are matched with other new players while smurfs are matched differently.

The brutal part is that there is always 2-3 brand new players in the games I'm in that get shit on. And of course, everyone flames them for playing poorly when it's obvious that they are new.

Yo when I was new I had a 5 man team

Fuh Queue8 votes

That's probably the best way to learn.

No I hate it now i can only play top lane now

Edit: ignore the mid Anivia wins she was just broken and easy

Unless you play at high elo, you can practice other positions. With the basics out of the way, you'll pick up pretty easily.

Oh hey this shit again. It's almost like leveling a smurf isn't the same as leveling a new account for the first time.

You mean like new players get influenced by smurfs to flame and blame others when it's not really their fault

yesterday i wanted to play MF support for the first time ( I main ADC and needed 1 S to complete my collection ) but in my game my Ashe was summoner lvl 6 and no smurf ... Im Gold 5 and i get ex-plats every game so why do they mix a guy in my matchmaking that just started playing ...

the guy died over and over again to the enemy varus/blitzcrank lane with having 20 cs by the 20 min mark, i don't think it was any fun for him

I see this happen so often. It's really sad that new players get tossed with highly skilled players.

The system picks up pretty well on smurfs. So you end up mostly with other smurfs, or higher level/rank players.

It's probably because there aren't enough Diamond players in normals. Since the system can't match diamonds against other diamonds, it has to match them with new players to get a balanced game overall. The only other options would be making Diamond players wait half an hour for a well-made match, or have any game with a diamond be even more one-sided than it already is. Also, 3/4ths of the "new players" you see are probably smurfs.

Yeah man ive realised that later on when i got into ranked as well :/ I've just got my lvl30 about a week and a half ago and i guess you gotta learn the hardway even though it's really not fair, But what i find more unfair and just frustrating is runes hen how much they cost as well as until i was lvl27-28 i didnt even know there was tier2 runes and the fact it puts you not only in a skill matchup disadvantage but also really big attack speed/damage/armor/lethality disadvantage :( Riot has said they are unhappy with the rune system a few weeks ago but i dont know if they will actually do anything to change it but i really hope they do.

Are there any stats on new players> Like how many each season. I swear I haven't seen a true noob in a couple years.

The game shouldn't be easy to learn. If you're new, you should be playing against tough opponents. Every game I've played against tough opponents from the start made me better at it quicker. You learn nothing from going 47-0 vs intermediate bots.

I disagree with this to a certain extent. Someone that goes 40-0 against intermediate bots definitely has the required skill to hold their own in a normals match.

When I'm talking about "new" players, I mean the ones that have never played a moba before. The people that sit under the enemy tower and eat 4 shots. The ones that leave base without buying an item all game. My smurf account is level 27 now and I still see this happen with the newer players. So when you get these people, getting matched into literally diamond 1 players, I see absolutely no good that comes from it.

Well, you can thank the MMR system for that. They're being matched based off average team MMR, so 4 diamonds and a level 22 could equal out to be 3 golds, 1 plat and 1 silver (that's just an example, but I assume you understand). This is why I propose this system for ranked, which would also benefit in the behind the scenes normal play.

It would be fine if I was going up against players that good often, as long as I'm learning something. Problem is with how FUCKING toxic these P > D smurfs are. Just leveled this account to 30 and it was miserable.

I don't, let them suffer just as much as us old players.

It's not because of their MMR. It's because they're premade with newbies.

I dont really ever do premade normals and regularly fight level 22s on my main sprinkled with other diamond/master/challenger players.

For some reason the systems "diamond mmr" is actuallly low level players sprinked with the top 1%.

it's because OTHER plats/diamond+ are premade with the low level player. Usually duo or trio. You are the filler player the system uses to make a game with the wonky premade.

Riot had this fcked up idea of permabanning flamers, now they create new accounts and stomp their way back to level 30 and their previous rank. And everytime someone says hey this system is fcked up you cant keep bringing permabanned gold+ players leveling up again getting to level 30 with 65%+ normal game winrate shitting on every laner they face, the 3 most dedicated members of the boards come here to assure you that riot knows everything about smurfs and their owners and their ips and that they control everything.
