I swear this is one of the most tilting things that can happen after a win. You get stuck at 99lp knowing that you need to win an entire game just to get to your promos, just for a single point. You go in knowing full well that if you lose, it will put you in a situation where a win will net you 99lp again. Seriously though, this feels like such a slap in the face.
And yeah I'm just salty that this happened to me a few minutes ago and a loss came afterwards. /Rant
Think about it for a second. There really isn't anything they can do besides overhaul the entire system. If they gave you the extra point, now 98LP is the same frustration. Then 97, then 96. It just moves the problem.

Let's say Riot makes 99 LP enough to go into promos. How would what we have now be different from getting 98 under that new system?

I think you should just get an extra win in your promos if you get a certain amount of excess LP. The win can't exceed the cap you already get, like 1 win in a regular promos up a tier.
Yesterday I had 99lp. I lost and was down 19 lp. The next game I gained 20 and am in promos. Thank god
