Include ability scaling in skill description

It would allow us to understand champions better. This would especially help people that are new to the game, since they would know that this green number is supposed to say that 0.3 of your AP gives this ability additional dmg. I know you can find those things on the internet but I don't think we should look for something that's a core part of the game. It could also be an option for people who won't find it helpful, something like "Show Ability Scaling in the descreption". What do you guys think?

Some things are easy to figure out(like 100% AP) but other things are a little tougher like 69% AD plus 13% Armor plus 42% MR plus 9001% attacks per second or something.

I think it should be an optional toggle found in the options menu so you don't overburden new players with too much info all at once.

I see what you mean, yet it should be at least mentioned in the tutorial, or they could automatically turn this feature on for players with level 15-20 and above, so nobody will miss it, since not everyone is playing around in the options menu.

Don't worry just build AP on Riven After all AP boosts ability damage.. right? That's what the tutorial says...

I kind of wish we had the total number in the skill text and then the base damage, the damage from scaling, and then the ratio beneath. Ex. Rank one Dark Sphere with 100 AP Syndra conjures a Dark Sphere at the target location, dealing 110 magic damage to all enemies hit, which then remains for 6 seconds.

more proper numbers are always better

In addition to this, tooltips should always show the total effectiveness of an ability.

By this, I mean that there should be a notation somewhere on the tooltip that shows, for example, that Yi's Alpha Strike will deal 245 physical damage at level 9, instead of saying 165 (+80).

Or that Xerath's ultimate, with 231 AP, will deal 400 damage per hit, instead of saying 300 (+100).

This comes from showing you which part is the flat dmg and which is the AP ratio, probably the way to appeal to all players would be to let them choose in the options menu.

Thus, "in addition to this..." :)

And I would be glad to see multiple options for tooltip customization for the sake of the player.

They could even have an option for tooltip flavor text; either describe the basic ability, or have a really fancy description of what the champion is doing.

Gotta love that tutorial telling you AP boosts your ability strength. Which led to wonderful builds like Quinn item 3115

Its werid... Lucian's Q has a sentence that says (X% of bonus attack damage) while his other abilities dont say anything its really awkward

I just wish it was in the champion screen at least, if not in game..

That would be great addition, optional would be fantastic!

So many times i find it funny to scroll over those web sites to find some info which is vital for game.

This might make it too difficult for many to read the skills while in game. This info is shown in the Game Info > Champions section on the League site, but should also be included in the skill descriptions when viewing champion info on the client. Riot is all about clarity, yet there's different information given for things in game, on the client, and on the site.

In-client description is actually a great idea. The in-game details could be optional. Let's hope that @Riot sempai will notice...

Actually it would not make things difficult. It would be something like this in ability description popup :

  • ... does 50 damage ( 0.3 ) ... -

Where '0.3' is ratio - for AD and AP or anything else it would have different color. So, basically, all it takes is put one number in ability description.

Make it optional for those who don't want it for whatever reason. (However, I would LOVE this option).

Ratios are what makes LoL different from other top-down MOBAs.

GigglingAngel1 votes

I already made a topic on this. Needless to say, I agree.

Br4ndon1 votes

lucians Q has the ratio in its description doesnt it? I thought it seemed out of place. But i think having the option to see the ratios is a great idea.

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

Lucian is one of the rare exceptions.

Some health scaling abilities also note how much they scale.

GhostOfShrimpmas1 votes

We've been asking for this for years, and Riot has been careful to never comment on it. I'm assuming they're very dead set against it, but not for any real compelling reason.

Silents4291 votes

Sounds like it would clutter the hell out of tool tips.

JimmyNtheKudos1 votes

I don't think it should be in-game but in the client. When you look over champion abilities there should be an option to click to see detailed information. I think that would help people who want to learn more in depth but not hinder new players who will see ratios and be like wtf.

Conturbatio1 votes

Lucian has it on his Q, and it's a really good QoL addition. It should be optional though, just like that ability costs, because it would fill the tooltip for some champions.

Ritmann1 votes

I usually start with 50 AP. From that it's pretty easy to calculate your AP-sacling abilities' scalings.

However with AD where they can scale on total AD or bonus AD, it's more of a guessing game. But not all want scalings listed in the ability description, and for some it will probably just confuse them more than it helps.

Vianci1 votes

That's why i included the "optional" vote, couse it's a feature that i see everybody want's but it wouldn't be something imposed on you without your will.

ahferroin71 votes

Before they do this, they need to include actual numbers in the ability descriptions in the champ pages int eh client, I shouldn't need to open a separate application to look up what the cooldown on an ability is or what it's base damge is.

St0rmln1 votes

At the very least include it in the champion description when a player looks a champion up in their profile or the shop.
