Should there be at least one tank item with a "Negate X Lethality" effect?

Before you say "Just get more armor", that's not what I'm thinking. I'm thinking a late-game tank-only item that specifically negates a set amount of Lethality without being overloaded with armor. Why have this effect? To specifically counter AD assassins and Lethality builders without hampering enemies with no ArPen or ADCs who don't favor Lethality.

And while getting a item 1031 might seem like it's doing the same thing, this effect would not be rendered ineffective by item 3071 or other armor-shredders. On live, Lethality can still threaten a tank once said tank's armor has been torn up by shred effects.

This is all just theoretical, though, so don't freak out.

lethality is bad vs tanks who stack armor and better against low armor targets

It can still have a nasty effect when that tank gets his armor shredded by item 3071 .

losing 24% of your armor when you have 250 armor still isnt going to make leathality be very effective to the remaining armor

Black cleaver only shreds up to 24% armor and it takes time, besides the item isnt even strong right now.

There already is such an item.

item 1031

For just 800 gold, it negates all of the lethality from both item 3147 AND item 3142 .

The idea of it is that this "Negate Lethality" effect would ONLY work on Lethality, not on armor-shredding effects or item 3035 . It also would provide no real bonus if your opponent doesn't have Lethality to begin with.

Plus item 1031 can be severely gimped by item 3071 .

So... it would just be a blatantly worse version of Chain Vest.

Considering all those assassins are still getting chunks of AD from their lethality items, which your anti-lethality item isn't doing anything about. Not to mention not reinforcing you against the enemy ADC either.

Doesn't armor already negate Lethality?

Seems like it would suck because why would you not just buy armor?

Because this "Negate Lethality" effect wouldn't be negated by item 3071 or other armor-shred effects.

Nobody understands that the point of this idea is to counter lethality without having to worry about armor shred like from black cleaver or last whisper....

We all know armor counters lethality but when your armor is being reduced and ignored by a %, lethality starts quickly becoming more effective.

Then the problem there is too much stackable armor penetration, so address that instead of making a ridiculously niche "anti Lethality" item.

Who would even buy the anti Lethality item? If you're making only one defensive purchase, Randuin's would probably serve you better since you're also getting Health and a potentially helpful active in addition to physical resistance.

If you're a tank, you probably don't want an item that ONLY helps you survive against AD assassins. If the enemy AD assassin is so fed that you feel comfortable buying this item on a tank instead of any Armor item, then you probably lost the game already.

Maybe add this onto Sunfire Cape?

Tahminatrix 2 votes

or frozen heart, that item almost needs to be overtuned for its cost , not to mention its a defensive item with no hp.

darkdill1 votes

Yeah, it'd make sense to add this onto Frozen Heart. Classes other than tanks or supports tend not to get it.

item 1029 = negate 15 lethality for 300g.

Lethality sucks against tanks already.

AD -> armor -> lethality -> damage reduction -> true damage -> heals -> grievous wounds -> shields -> Irelia passive execute -> immunity/immortality -> pure damage -> heals -> grievous wounds -> shields -> Irelia passive...

It's enough.

TonyTonyMordecai1 votes

Would be like an aura thing like item 3110 or like item 3143 where it's a unique passive on the wearer?

darkdill2 votes

Unfortunately, it can't be an aura. That'd be "invisible power, no gameplay".

most champions that build lethality are all bursty. If your trying to burst a tank you are probably doing something wrong.

Hell no

what are you looking to solve? You can’t price the item in a way that it will help tanks. Every point of lethality negation will be far more valuable for squishy champions than naturally tanks ones. Tanks won’t pay for antilethality over armor at any reasonable price.
