AP version of Hydra?

So as i was discussing Ekko on YT i/we kinda got the idea of AP version of Ravenous Hydra. It's not a complete idea but i'd like to know if anyone think's there is a possibility of such item. For example

30ap 300hp 10%spellvamp both melee and ranged unique passive - basic attacks deal on-hit 40+(0.3ap) magic dmg to your target and 75% of the dmg to surrounding targets (25%more if melee) spell vamp is calculated separately for first target and secondary ones unique active - pulse of energy deals 100 (0.3ap) dmg to all surrounding units (applies rylai - but i'm not sure about that)

I'm thinking about it as a sustain item, key here is to give people a choice - sustain or raw ap? It's just an idea and i'm kinda interested how other people view the concept itself, and would like to see your ideas :)

AP sustain has been suggested many times and every time the conclusion is it's a terrible idea

For every mage that could use spell-vamp in a viable, healthy, and balanced manner, there's like 2 other champs that'd be absolute cancer with the same item

Didn't consider that. Maybe restricting it to meele champions would make it less of a cancer?

Definitely; most ranged mages already have plenty of waveclear (especially now with Luden's). But then if you make it melee only, not many champions besides Diana, Fizz, and Ekko would use it.

Usually the problem with AP sustain items is that a certain two champs always find a way to abuse it and ruin it for everyone ( Akali Vladimir )
