Can Kayle support?

Title. I've had good luck with playing her as one, but I want your thoughts.

She CAN, and don't let meta police tell you otherwise.

That said, she is BETTER pretty much anywhere else. She can jungle, top, or mid better than she can support. Again, does not mean she cannot support as well, just that if you're already playing Kayle, just play to carry.

Well, I can't lane and have a fondness for paladins/angels, all while at the same time loving the ability to turn into a hyper-carry if it needs to be so. Hence why I'm asking.

Now the question is if she's viable for being the main support for a support main ;3

i've seen some good kayle supports and they're quite irritating.

I don't understand the hatred, I play a lot of Kayle support, especially against tanks in bot lane because her passive just shreds armor. I think she can also be really useful for split pushing and taking turrets. I wouldn't play her in ranked, but I'd only play god tier supports in ranked anyway.

Kayle is the champion who can fill any role and not be called out for trolling. She is best suited for mid lane though.

if you are good at kayle she can ADC too, with the right support

I mean, any champion can be support. Just some are better at it than others.

With that said, she isn't the worst, but also not the best. Her shining moment would probably be 6 and saving the ad to secure a double kill with her ult.

As far as being viable to be your main support, that is dependent on you and you alone. It is your taste and skill that bus decide this. I started doing Sion support before it gained traction (only time i'm hipster). People didn't think it would be good and then boom.

You would also have the advantage of since it is an uncommon pick, people may not know how to deal with it. Kind of like Urgot top or another rarely played champ. They can be under rated and unseen. When someone does play it, people may not know how to counter it. So, in my final thoughts, yes. She could be viable as your main support.

Yes, but her kit is pretty weak in the support role. She just doesn't have the right kit anymore to support. She used to be fairly good but when people started laning with her they nuked all her support power because she was showing success in lane. I think the last wave of nerfs she got was to her ult duration and CD, the heal amount and a shift on her E from large flat damage to scaling with AP. This is just another sad story of Riot hating any support that does well in lane. You can always be sure that if a support shows up in a lane that massive nerfs will hit them the next day to prevent them from being in lane, even if the nerfs makes them unplayable as support as well. Riot's true fear is a support that is actually strong.

A heal, a massive targeted slow, and invincibility for teh carry, checks out with me.

Kayle can be an 'ok' support, but you have to be playing/building her as a support, not as a carry (so you're building AP or heal/shield stuff, not attack speed). It can produce some rather spicy heals (with added movespeed), and the ult can be fight changing, not to mention her slows, and a dash of resistance shred.

Trying to build her as the late game AS carry kayle on a support budget is likely to be punished by competent lane opponents though, so I'd be very wary of thinking of her of a support that can turn into a hypercarry if need be, since by the time you got to hypercarry status the game would probably be over.

Answer that isn't bull shit: No and don't waste someone's elo trying. It's not that you'll never win more than you're at a clear disadvantage for no good reason. It severely punishes your team and you definitely won't climb far with it unless you're extremely versed in what you're doing, but by that time you could have doubled that mileage on any other champ.

She has a heal, slow, and an invulnerability ultimate.

Not based on that, no, not really. The descriptions on her abilities qualify as a support but she's a "secondary" support. Meaning, she's not meant to be a support for an ADC but rather a fighter that's also a support. Similar to Ivern, Orianna, and Ashe. They're kits can support, but just not as good as some other champions.

She's a Fighter/Support Hybrid

Kayle can do it!

i played kayle support and in the right circumstances she can determine a teamfight in late game even if the enemy team out dps you

Ahh, Season 1, how we all remember.

Kayle used to have absurd ratios on all of her abilities. Her heal was incredibly strong. I guess in the right situation you could still support with Kayle, but it's not optimal any longer.

A few things I follow as a previous Kayle main who played her support:

  1. Don't try and do damage, her only utility is R and W (and arguably Q), and needs to be supplemented with item actives. Besides, with no farm her lategame scaling takes way too long. Be a good angel and get that Windspeaker's while collecting utility items.

  2. Ardent Censer and Talisman (and MS quints). Vroom vroom

  3. Support Kayle does NOT need much AP. Q and E only scale damage, which is on the bottom of your priority list. W scaling is SHIT (for the ms, base values are high enough), and will scale a lot better from heal boost passives (Ardent censer/windspeaker's).

  4. Resist shred sounds good on paper but costs too much (see 1.) on top of having lousy build paths.

Yes, I mean not very effectively if you aren’t careful, but yes Kayle isn’t as good at it as a champ like Nami or Soraka but she is capable. Just keep in mind how squishy she is, she’s as bad with defense as someone like Kindred with that stat
