item 3071

for all the same reasons that riot believes "aura" items are extremely potent, let me tell you why a single cleaver can shred a front line....

it applies an extra 30% damage from everyone else as well...

when the bonus damage should only be from the person applying the debuff in the first place.

put power back into tanks.

yes yes im aware theres a support, and a mage, likely to be dealing magic damage, or a nidalee, elise jungle, im fully aware, but it doesn't stop the primary damage dealer (the adc, which is mandated every single game) from heavily benefiting and multiplying their damage without having to do anything at all other than being with the team.

but what about the games where theres a graves jungle, a talon mid, and a darius top, you would think you could just build full armor... but you would be dead wrong, you dont counterbuild their poor team comp, instead you still lose finding out your only chance was to actually win lane and get ahead, same as always, forget about scaling and a late game.

put power back into tanks

I think they already did that.. more than enough.

having to do anything at all other than being with the team

apart from.... i don't know.... actually hitting your spells and throwing yourself into the enemy team?

This would nerf juggernauts too hard and they have enough problems.

i d k being able to shred everyone's armor by 30% is a lot

i wouldn't be upset about being the only person who can take advantage of the shred. as it is Cleaver is basically a must-buy on every fighter because it makes every other AD do more damage too.

then riot would be forced to buff other juggernaut items and then we win

Hmm...good point.

Someone tell me, is OP complaining about this because of Lucian or MS using it?

I just find it funny because before hand, BC built out of kindlegem and had more HP and less AD. And Riot changed that up, because they found it oppressive, on the champions it was designed for.

Really? That's annoying.

there was the meta of the the black cleavers when the passive wasnt unique and could stack.. you would pick talon and get 5 of them and boots and one shot everything as true damage

Big Lincoln1 votes

Pretty sure they changed it because it was pretty much exclusive to juggernauts and they wanted it to be a baseline item for fighters

I would rather have the old cleaver back.

Cost Analysis* Gold Value 50 attack damage = 1750 Gold 300 health = 800 Gold 20% cooldown reduction = 533.33 Gold Total Gold Value = 3083.33 Gold Gold Efficiency*

The Black Cleaver's is 99.46% gold efficient without its two passives.

I mean, that's completely normal. Aura items generally aren't as expensive as cleaver, and also have slightly below efficient stats, so that their unique passives/actives come in to bolster the completed item. Thats how Abyssal and Locket worked, 'scept locket had a passive and and active.

Very Hard Engage1 votes

thats because they're meant to be cheap utility options, not awesome combat stat sticks like cleaver.

The Fast1 votes

Abyssal is almost never bought as a utility option. Its almost always bought as "I need to not die against this enemy AP mid, and I still need to be able to kill them" item. That's been its niche since forever. BC is a synergy-reliant Abyssal that focuses on tanks instead of squishies.

90% buy it for the pen.

the other 10% buy it to not lose lane, magic resist.

do you understand how hard it is to stack magic pen? sorc boots, liandries, and abyssal, thats it.

The Fast1 votes

Well there's no Pen on it anymore at least.

Abyssal, for anyone that could build it, was an item that let you win lane super hard, and made you super hard for your opponent to come back on.

My point is that Abyssal IS an awesome combat stat stick. A first item abyssal, on its users, is/was more oppressive than a first item cleaver, even after the abyssal change that made it scale with level. Offensive utility items in league have always been selfish.

You can argue that its wrong, sure, but then you'd have to argue against both BC and Abyssal, at least in my eyes.
