Discussion: "I'm not having fun if I'm not winning."
What do you all think of this statement? :o

Depends. How's that?
I'm having fun if I'm losing, when: -Everyone's coordinated (or at least, try to be coordinated). -Everyone's know what they're doing. Ex: Cassiopeia ulting everyone (or trying), Adc behind using his AA, top laner tanking, etc. -Everyone's trying to get objectives and comunicating.
When not: -3 or less people are actually not trying to win.
Because, believe me, is so frustrating when I'm trying (alone, or with a small group) to make a comeback, but 2 players (example) are playing by themselves farming jungle, or getting caught for the 30th time, or making a split push is clearly not working.
But, is also frustrating, when 3-4 players are actually trying to win the game (I don't care if it seems impossible), but the 5th player is spamming the "surrender button".
It's absurd. I have the most fun when I'm pulling off jukes and making the enemy team chase me around with Nidalee, Shaco or LeBlanc. Win or lose, if I waste a lot of the opposing team's time and pull of some amazing jukes, I'm having fun. The fun shouldn't be from winning, it should be from playing the game. If playing the game regardless of wins or losses for a lot of people, Riot may need to re-evaluate its design priorities.
that's just an opinion, personally i only play champions i enjoy playing, and get way more satisfaction out of playing them than playing meta champs.
varies for everyone
I have fun depending on how well I do. Even if my team wins but i get destroyed the whole game i don't have fun. But the games where I do really well and still lose, I'm fine with and have fun in them because I did well myself and it was probably my teams fault that we lost.
Generally speaking, I agree with the statement. Well, no, I would rephrase here.
League isn't only fun when I'm winning. It's just only fun when I'm not losing.
There are plenty of games where I wouldn't say that I'm winning or losing, the gold lead seems pretty even and maybe one team is ahead one tower or one dragon or whatever. It's still anyone's game. Those parts are pretty fun.
The issue I have is when I'm losing, and my team refuses to surrender. I get this all the time, and I don't understand it. Even in normals, which are supposed to be fun, people don't ff and they don't justify not ffing besides "I never surrender" or whatever. So now I have to sit around and wait while my team refuses to contest dragon (because we're so behind), refuses to contest baron (because we're so behind) and refuses to move out of the base and ward our jungle (because we're so behind).
So I sit there and watch my team clear waves while the enemy team maintains a comfortable lead by collecting free objectives and then smash into our base with baron and win. This takes about an extra 10-15 minutes longer than just surrendering would.
I don't care if I'm losing. I don't care if I lose. But so many times, it feels like I'm no longer playing a game when my team is losing and they refuse to surrender. I'm just waiting for the nexus to blow up at that point.
to be honest, it's just how the game is designed. league is very...anti fun when behind. typically in league, you lose because somewhere, someone got destroyed. only in objective modes like Dominion or Ascension do you really get intense, close matches that are won by a split hair. When you are 0-4, sometimes you just want to pull your hair out, but the game forces you to stay and keep getting beat up. I only really have fun when I lose is when the match isn't decided at 5 minutes, and both teams pull off some pretty decent plays
I guess that's why I like the Crystal Scar as much as I do.
It's true for a lot of people. Some people simply don't care and just play for fun win or lose, but majority out there play to win and if they don't then that's pretty sucky.
It's not so much that I'm not having fun when I'm losing....it's I'm not having fun when 3 players on our team are trolling and running around doing things to try to make us lose on purpose. It just so happens those things happen a far greater amount in games that I lose.
Pretty much what I think eight of the ten players in any given game think. Then there is one guy who's just having fun, and one guy who's trolling for fun.
I like close games, especially when I'm on a champ I enjoy... unless there's an asshole, but that basically goes without saying. It's a fairly understandable statement, but just stomping everyone you come across isn't fun and becomes boring after awhile. Obviously being stomped isn't fun either which is why close games are usually the best, but some people just like winning which is fine as long as they don't flame their teammates as a result when they're losing (they usually do, but that's also a generalization and therefore not always correct).
It's representative of what Riot has done to league. The game is no longer fun to actually play. The only fun part left is beating the other team, so people only stick around because they've got so much time put into it that they want to "enjoy" the fruits of all their practice.

Terrible attitude to have for a tryhard competitive game like LoL were everyone is going to loose 50% of there games on average.
That attitude is more at-home with PvE games like Pokemon were you're going to win 99%+ of the time.
fuck those people.
because the game punishes you for loosing and the only way to get anywhere is by winning, but you have to depend on team mates in order to win, and your team mates are determined by MMR, and MMR is determined by in game performace over multiple games, which is influenced heavily by bad team mates. So there is this senario that when you get bad team mates your MMR will more than likely go down and from there keep going down if you keep getting bad team mates, which you will because your MMR is going down.
I have fun if I'm losing/winning i don't have fun when I'm losing and the enemy has extremely frustrating champs like annie,Darius,(old ryze),etc
as long as its in ranked its an ok mentalityy
Since you opened the can of worms on judging other people's mentalities...
Do you think it's a healthy long term strategy for Riot to promote a system where somewhere between 50-100% of players in every game played are not having fun? (5 players on losing team having no fun, plus 0-5 players on winning side that might feel bad about a stomp)
If not, then in what context did you think it was an "ok mentality"?

are you saying ranked shouldn't be a game mode at all?
It's the effort that counts. A good loss can teach a lot, but having poor teammates cause a loss is just irritating more than anything.
If it"s a close game and we lose, then its fine. But if its a stomp and game prety much over before 10 minutes mark (wich ahppens alot in this season) then yea ,not really fun.
I'm ok with what a bunch of people here have said:
I have fun while loosing except:
well i often have no fun when im winning hows that
I like close games where both teams have a shot at winning all the way to the end
then im having fun
a stomp is boring af winning or losing doesnt really matter its boring either way and a waste of time
Too general of a statement to have a real opinion on. There are qualifications to both sides that you're ignoring for the sake of whatever argument you're having with someone else.
Honestly, it looks like a question you'd find on a Riot Survey. Zero context, black or white, and designed to come to a conclusion they've already settled on.
I had a lot of fun losing to a D2 ahri the other day, because I learned quite a lot about my champion (aurelion sol) during that time
I did not have so much fun winning against a silver1 nasus as renekton though, it was a pretty boring and one sided matchup X(
I don't care if I win or lose, as long as the gameplay that leads to it is engaging and exciting
i prefer losing a close game than winning a game where we stomped the enemy team and i knew we would have won.
i like games where i don't know when i'm losing/wining.
I have fun when I play well. I mean: -play defensive -farm -ward -gank/ roam -push -kill dragons
well, up to S4-5 most games had been fairly enjoyable - even when you where losing, as most of the times you felt like there had been sth you can do to maybe still come back (or at least you knew you made grave mistakes and deserved to lose the match one-sidedly)...for S6 however 95%of all gmaes snowball out of control very quickly and very often and as it´s really dumb to just play on till eventualy your opponent manages to make some really major throws (aka unforced errors)...even comebakc vicotries donßt feel good this season, as in most cases you´ll know that it´s just your opponent playing really bad, not you doing much to force it.
This season just took away soo much of the strategic part of the game, it´s a damn shame.
