Magic pen ?

How come I can build every magic pen item in game and can't beat almost one mr item, but build lethality and 400 armor becomes nothing?

You're joking, right? item 3147 item 3814 item 3142 item 3134 is 55 lethality. Congrats, at level 18, that 400 armor is now 345 and you're still not doing any damage. Instead of 80% damage reduction, they have 78% damage reduction. Lethality is garbage against armor. % armor pen is good against armor.

also armor scales, MR doesn't. build item 3151 item 3020 and you're basically doing true damage to everyone without an MR item. Even building every lethality item, lethality won't reduce anyone to 0 armor.

MR is a correctly designed and balanced stat because it effectively defends against magic burst damage. Crit is not just "critical strikes" - its sustained burst. Think about that a moment. Sustained. Burst. An ADC with a 100% crit build will DO THE SAME OR SLIGHTLY LESS alpha damage than a THOUSAND AP BURST MAGE over TEN SECONDS. Thats about two rotations depending on the champion.

Armor is meant to defend against sustained physical damage, not sustained burst.

Why are you talking about crit?

Ranting mostly. Most lethality builds still include at least 50% crit though, and when comparing armor to MR... MR is just a better stat because it does its job. Lethality ADCs are strong because they burst squishies,. have good itemization, and can melt tanks due to sustained burst depending on when in their build they buy crit.

Exactly. IF i go full MP build like item 3020 item 3151 + 8 MP form runes and some MP from masteries but yet it only takes spirit visage to negate all my fkn damage by tanks. Lethality on the other hand only needs this to be effective item 3134

Flat magic penetration is meant to be used against targets with little magic resist, just like lethality is mean to be used against targets with little armor. Against MR you need to build item 3135, which is % penetration. And unlike item 3036/ item 3033 , Voidstaff is total magic penetration instead of just bonus, so it's actually more efficient. It also provides more AP than LDR/MR provides AD.

Armor counters lethality, wth are you on about? Lethality only works against targets with low armor, it's useless against armored targets.

Seriously, the whole point of changing the stat's name to "lethality" was because "armor penetration" was misleading, and people still think you build lethality against armor instead of the other way around.

What counters armor is item 3071 item 3035 item 3036 item 3033 , or % armor penetration/reduction. Flat armor penetration, or lethality, is so you can deal close to deal damage against squishies, not tanks.

That's the issue you see. The sustained burst comes from AA which items can also reduce unlike mages that have CD issues and also mostly rely on Skill shots that can be dodged unlike AA's. Not to mention lifesteal with all this allows adc's to live longer than mages and hence why lethality has been so dominant.
