Mid feels so useless in low ELO

Unless I have enough DPS to 1-shot the ADC or perfectly land my abilities the ADC can just 2-shot me to death. If our bot lane feeds might as well surrender because it's not like they're going to catch back up. However if mid feeds, goes 0/10, and generally just fucks everyone over, it's fine as long as the ADC is fed, because those gods of the rift can just right click on the enemy mid (who is panicking at an ADC running towards them) or use an ability to lock them down. UNLESS you feed an assassin like Zed or Talon. Why is the game lost if they're fed? Because, obviously, they can kill the ADC faster!

I feel like I either have to babysit bot if I'm ahead by roaming every 2 minutes, losing out on CS, or counterpick against ADC's with an assassin or super long-range poke champ. But it doesn't matter anyway, because lifesteal, the tool to protect ADC's from the ridiculously high DPS that Riot keeps creating with new champions, damage buffs, and defensive nerfs, will let ADC's erase any poke from the game. Meanwhile, mids are required to buy item 3157 to deal with ADC's and basically anyone and once that is gone well they're SOL (and let's be honest; it's not like the armor does anything). Bot has GA as well, so even if you have to use all your abilities to get that sweet shutdown, it doesn't matter because they'll just respawn with their whole team protecting them like they're a god (rightly so).

Also, I'm not sure why crit items are so, ridiculously gold-efficient compared to mage items. 2600 gold for 30-45% AS, 30% increased damage (45% with IE), movement speed (why, I don't know), and a passive that can turn ADC's into assassins (Shiv) or multiplies waveclear potential (Hurricane, which is decently balanced), or increases range AND makes them an assassin (RFC and shiv combo is disgusting) so mages can't even abuse that factor, because by the time their cast animation is done the ADC is in range already. Meanwhile mage items are 400-500 gold more valuable expensive on average, even though it's harder to farm as a mage without using mana and leaving yourself vulnerable in the early game, and don't even grant the damage required, unless you have Rabadon's which is a necessary item for every single AP carry because it's so grossly powerful compared to every other AP item.

If bot gets tilted, starts arguing, and feeds the enemy bot 5/0 it only snowballs from there. Due to the low skill level of low ELO it just feels so bad for non-ADC players because it feels like they have no impact on an arbitrary game (MAINLY mid and top here). The only way to climb is to queue with a duo ADC (which barely works because unless you're support they're subject to the performance of support who can also feed the enemy adc), counterpick against ADC's with assassins (which makes mages obsolete), or (only if you're way ahead and shoved lane) roam bot every 2 minutes to babysit them and miss out on CS/tower damage.

I really hope midseason can reduce ADC's power, but seeing the new item reworks it really doesn't look like it's happening.

I play a lot of xerath mid specifically TO have impact. The key is to always not die, and eventually you will be fed. It's extra good for xerath because his range can make him really safe. His ult in lategame allows him to 100-0 ADCs that are either away from their support or simply bad at dodging before the fight even starts.

It also allows him to pick off low health enemies after a fight. A potential 1 for 4 lost teamfight for your team can turn in to a 4 for 4 if you ult well.

It's not as easy with other champions, but the principles should be similar.

1.) Play safe and get good farm 2.) Focus the carry from range/try to CC (pretty much every midlaner can 1 shot the ADC in 1v1 if they land CC or full combo) 3.) If you see an opportunity to flash CC the enemy ADC/fed squishy in a situation where your team will FOR SURE be able to kill them, its worth it even if you die (unless you have all of your team's kills)

Think of yourself as a CC/burst help support for your adc instead of a midlaner hardcarry mage.

Your impact should be either getting your ADC fed or making sure they don't feed all while farming well and not dying.

When my goal was to get fed in games I would end up getting scores like 10/1/2 midgame and losing the game because my team fed.

Now that I'm more content with scores like 5/1/10 I get even my feeding teammates to comeback and be useful.

Ironically in the games where I play more team oriented (as an example: BY not KSing with my ult from the ADC even if my adc is feeding/doinbg poorly) I actually tend to end up with more kills and less deaths because my team is really useful and I don't just get dove every time.

Plus your team's spirit is key. As dumb as it sounds, a kill for a feeding 0/4 adc to go to 1/4 is much more valuable than a kill on a fed (10/0) mage. (Edit: pretty much if you already are a feeder you will likely just keep feeding, if it looks like you just had a bad start and are coming back most people will try their hardest to come back - mentality is everything) The game is more about team relations and attitude than individual play, especially at low elos.

You say you are in low elo, how don't you always have damage to one shot the ADC? They build nothing but crit items, frequently the wrong crit items. Also you bring up the Zeal items to complain about how "crit items are so, ridiculously gold-efficient compared to mage items." when they mathematically aren't, they are gold inefficient, to complain about how they turn champs into assassins, which they don't, and how AP's don't have damage and so it's a necessity to buy Rabadon's, which which is not the case, and how it's impossible to climb with a duo playing ADC, which it isn't.

If I was playing low elo, mid would not at all be excluded from among what I would pick.
