Kha'Zix may be getting two buffs, kids... // And, a reflection on champion balance
The obvious one is the buff to the heal on Kha'Zix's W, which should significantly ease Kha'Zix's early jungle clear. However, I also wanted to point out that I think the changes to The Black Cleaver (at least if the 20% CDR sticks around) will be very favorable to Kha'Zix. Kha'Zix really likes CDR, so much so that CDR glyphs and even Ionian Boots of Lucidity are common on him. 20% CDR on The Black Cleaver means Kha'Zix can easily cap his CDR with a combination of 6 CDR glyphs (5%), masteries (5%), Warrior enchant (10%), and The Black Cleaver (20%). Not to mention that both passives are really good on him.
One quick reflection on champion balance in general: The pace of balance changes, champion reworks, etc. can often be frustratingly slow. Sometimes Riot just really messes up (
). And sometimes a champion is doomed to remain a little underpowered until Riot can come up with a healthier playstyle for them (
). However, after playing the game for only about 6 months, it's pretty apparent to me that Riot has good goals for the game, that they're addressing these issues nearly as fast as they reasonably can, and that no champion remains forgotten forever. I was looking to pick up Kha'Zix a while back simply because I like him, and because he was one of the first champions I experimented with when I started playing. I later decided to avoid him simply because he seems to be pretty weak right now. Seeing him get just a little love, though, encourages me to perhaps give him a shot. (Gulp.)
