And not only because Mordekaiser tends to have an easy time against her. She may attract the worst of fanbases and she can be rather annoying but compared to what we're currently seeing top lane she looks like fairness personified. Fiora's kit is a hundred times more toxic than Riven's since the Exile has to actually build damage to be a threat and can still be dealt with by building resistances. Hell, Quinn and Graves top lane are way more aggravating to play against than Riven, and them being way more common nowadays makes me really question why I even play Top ^^''

6% play rate is truly amazing considering about half of the more commonly played top laners on that list are good anti Riven picks. Poppy, Pantheon, and Malphite are all painful to play against as Riven. Actually sorting things by win rate shows the current toplane meta in general is painful for Riven.

She's fun but a very bad pick right now and even when she was a good pick the time investment to learn her really wasn't worth the results (Most can become proficient on around 2 or 3 champions in the time it takes to get decent at Riven)

Champion.gg uses Plat+ data. Malicious (according to his own posts) has only just reached Plat. Most of us are not in Plat or above, so it is possible that Riven is vastly more popular in Plat+ than Gold-.

To be fair, the could be a gap between 6th most played and 7th could be huge, let alone for 1st and 7th. for example, 5th might see over 1000 games a week and 6th might see 800, 7th could only see 200, so the chance of seeing the 7th most played would be 10%.

I'm a Singed main, I actually find Riven remarkably fun to fight as Singed. Their kits counteract each other in so many ways and yet neither side has the clear advantage. I still don't particularly ENJOY seeing her too much, but hey. With Fiora/Quinn/Graves, it just feels like it doesn't matter how good I am, if they're not garbage at the champion, I can't do shit.

I've never had much of a problem with Riven anyway...

People hated her so much but honestly I never saw her as a problem. You almost never had to face good ones, and when you did, as long as you played smart and didn't die, she wasn't a problem. The only thing that annoys me is how much Riven's tend to roam... it's like they forget they have a lane after they hit level 6.

Then again, basically all my top lane champs have an easy time against her (Malphite, Mordekeiser, Nasus, and yes, she's easy to play against with him, Gangplank, and ryze).

Played it vs Fiora last night. Went quite well until she got level 6 and just stat-checked me to death

Mordekaiser top lane is very solid (He's Metal, duh!) once you get the hang of him. He's one of the best anti assassins/diving champions who can become a real monster if his team can enable him to do his thing.

He's a great pick against carry top laners due to his great dueling potential and being a Juggernaut he can function as a team's frontline. he does thrive if you pair him with a tanky jungler so that he can follow them into the fray and lay down the damage required.

As for general input on how to play him: Maxing order's E->Q->W but grab a point in W at level two. He's really flexible in terms of build but his core items are the following: item 3116 item 3053 item 3146 , I round out my build with item 3065 item 3157 / item 3742

Starting items are usually item 1029 or item 1001 Warding your lane and keeping track of the enemy Jungler's essential to your success as well as trying to suppress your enemy laner by poking, trading, bullying and generally by killing them.

You can cheese them with your third Q strike or reliably poke them down until they got about 40% hp where a quick E->Ult->Ignite will definitely kill them.

Tried him top last night finally before seeing this post. Did the same leveling orders but my built was quite different. Gonna have to try this build next time.

What do you think of Trinity force on Mordekaiser? Also, you don't seem to value cdr much as a stat on him, is this the case or is cdr actually quite good?

Tri force used to be a lot better before the preseason patch but nowadays it's kinda gimpy due to it not providing the bulk of stats morde needs. Works well on an AD focused build though.

CDR isn't a very desirable stat on morde due to him already having low CD's but SV does provide some CDR Focusing on building a lot of CDR is not advisable due to the nature of most cdr items.

Can't agree. Replacing frustrating champs with other frustrating champs doesn't sound like an improvement.

It's kind of the nature of toplane. You have to be strong enough to fight 2 people by yourself due to jungler ganks, so you have to pick a strong-early lane bully. This along with Riot buffing champs like Riven and Renkton as soon as they fall out of favor while hating safe/scaling champs leads to toplane always being a battle of two lanebullys (or whichever tank is broken right now until they get nerfed) and whoever falls behind gets to do nothing for nearly the whole game.

ally objective: gank her lane so she can carry our sorry asses

enemy objective? gank her lane so she can be sorry for playing that champ

i dont like these small objectives that i need to have in order to win/lose game, just like when theres lee/shaco/nid/xin (junglers that can gank at lvl 3) you really need to be careful when pushing top lane otherwise you're first blood

I agree on Quinn, Graves... I don't think he would be all that bad if he didn't abuse the fact that Melees have to stand between Graves and their tower to farm minions (when getting pushed in). But because he does... Yeah... ugh

I never really considered giving up on toplane... It's satisfying to win from these hard matchups tho, I recently won a Darius VS Quinn matchup, and it felt gud :3 summoner 31

Her mobility's annoying, yes. But she has to get into Melee range to trade, leaving her open to be smacked by Mace of Spades. Her abysmally low Hp/5 makes poking her really easy and her W shield doesn't last long enough to shield her for all the damage unlike Iron Man.
