I see that riot is planning on getting rid of tier 1 runes and making tier 2 runes 1 IP. By itself, the change sounds pretty good, especially for new users. However, I'm left wondering, why not just delete tier 2 runes and greatly reduce the prices of tier 3 runes (20ip for non-quints 100-450ip for quints). This would simplify the rune system for newer players, let smurf accounts get up to speed faster, and let players save IP up for rune pages

They reduced the prices of ''basic'' tier 3 runes, and I think they are going to leave it at that and not reduce prices any further. Then there is the incentive to play and having something for people to work for thing.
The Last Ballad1 votesWhy would we want to help smurf accounts? Having a diamond player at lvl 15 matchmaking makes the game less fun for the other 9 players. The enemy team cannot take them down, unless the person makes a mistake, and the teammates cannot hope to compete with them(unless they are playing a low damage support, but why would anyone saddle themselves with a suicidal adc on purpose?)
