Mordekaiser can never be a true late game carry

The reason is simple: unless his numbers are so high that he 1 shots everyone (at the same time), a melee with no gapcloser or CC can never be a true scaling threat that long range champs or even a melee with gapclosers can be. Late game he's just going to get popped by a Vayne or Jinx before he can even react.

Why balance him as a marksman substitute when he won't ever be one without insane numbers?

What really bothers me is that there is an easy way for avoiding making him a oneshotting machinegun:

Give him a freaking lot of tenacity so that he might be slow, he might have no CC but he is coming for you and unless you use your hurrdurrLCSmobility skill you are going to feel the pain.

Riot doesn't want it for some reason while in this way they could give him sustained damage instead of burst. Mordekaiser needs defenses for his gameplay pattern not a high damage atomic burst skill.

I really like this idea. Maybe he gains conditional tenacity then it is doubled with the ghost out or something.

I was thinking about his shield since ghost is really situational and with the dragon could lead to some balance issues. Iron Man can be controlled by enemies more easily too since focusing him will make him unable to keep it up and so keep max tenacity up.

As to damage, he should be able to increase his damage done linearly with each of his skills landing on an enemy.

So obviously true that I honestly can't see how Riot managed to miss this themselves.

he wasn't intended to be a carry

he was intended to be a melee juggernaut that can lane bot while you have an ADC mid

in the interview, they talk about how he lacks the exponential scaling of a bot lane carry. This is why I talk about it.

They don't balance him as a Marksman, but as a duo laner. For the simple reason that he becomes oppressive to play against in a solo lane if he is strong on his own.
