Positional ranked matchmaking and lane swaps

I've noticed when i swap lane with my mid laner, i get a popup that continued lane swaps will disable positional matchmaking entirely. What does this mean?

I tend to swap lanes quite often on EU West because my mid laner gets counterpicked and they think they'll lose their matchup. Does this mean the new system discourages that? Should i stop lane swapping entirely and risk losing games for the sake of my LP?

People have been abusing this for large number of games, it probably doesn't matter unless you're doing it in 100% of games.

not true i did it literally once and instead of getting mid lp i got top lp even though i was in as mid
