What am I doing wrong as Ezreal?

For some gosh awful Reason I've felt the urge to pick Ezreal back up and play him a lot and I've been getting mixed... yeah mixed... mostly dismal results in game.

Mechanically I get it, it's not that hard... and it would be sad if it was. Poke with Q, escape with E, and don't forget to actually auto attack in team fights. I have a feeling it's my choice of build path that's been slowing me down lately. Went one match thinking Essence Reaver/crit build would be nice.... never doing that again.

Other than that I've switched between Blue Build and Tri-force rush into Duskblade/lethality build. I understand that the popular (or at least rito approved recommended items) are Manamune into Triforce, but coincidentally, every time I rush tear (literally every time) I've fallen behind, or an AD assassin (partially my fault at that too) has gotten fed... and the armor from frozen gauntlet just looks really.... really appealing every time.

Any advice or help to offer?

I only go blue build if there are actual kitable enemies such as Darius . If not then go for item 3078 instead. Games are decided to quickly to use item 3042

He's just hard, don't fool yourself by thinking he is easy. LS, a Korean coach doesn't suggest anyone to play him. He is just that difficult. His kit looks simple but its hard to be effective on him. He's a high skillcap champion. You 100% need great mechanics to play him. On top of that, he isn't that strong in this meta because of crit ADCs. The odds are just against you and most players won't be able to play him to a level where he needs to be played in their respective elos. If you really like him, I defiantly think you should keep playing him though. Don't worry about builds, just build what the pros make and focus on improving.

For builds, just do this. This is what high elo ez players do. Sometimes people get a vampire sceptor or cutlass first back instead of tear, then get the tear next back. You delay you midgame game a bit, but you're stronger early. Decide if to get iceborn or triforce. Then go the normal bork, muramana build. Then a last whisper, bloodthirster, or GA. Crit and lethality are terribly on ezreal. He's pretty much suckered into going tear/tforce

I use to play him as a normal ADC or lethality based in Nexus siege. In the standard rift games he is too mana gated. Crit build with ER is OK, but you can't spam abilities until lategame and have to farm with autos.
