How does one build Talon?

So when it comes to assassins, particularly caster ones, I'm usually at a loss on what exactly I should build for one particular reason: Survivability.

In my experience with Talon, I tend to lack ways of just getting my health back up outside of combat other than just backing to base. And having to back to base after every assassination attempt whether successful or not feels like a waste of time and resources. I also find myself incredibly squishy against my intended targets, especially when the ADCs build crit and I'm at about 2k max health.

So Talon and other AD assassin mains, how do you get around this? How do you build in general? Normally I just rush ghostblade and then BC (after boots) for the damage amp, but after that I tend to get stumped.

Should I build Steraks to survive burst? Is Deaths Dance a core item on Talon? What are my survivability options outside of edge of night?

item 3071 gives 400hp and a juicy 20% CDR. The new item 3026 gives 40 ar along with AD and Revive passive. You already mentioned item 3814, you can also consider item 3139 (active is great versus CC-train comps), item 3156 is best for raw ability to survive magic damage. It's not necessarily a big problem to drop AD from one of your item slots completely to get something like item 3742 around like 4-5th item (which can go w/ an AD+MR item to give a well-rounded bit of defense to complement your otherwise pure AD build). item 3812 is probably the best sustain item for an AD caster because their physical damage dealing abilities will also heal them unlike with lifesteal. However, item 3074 can also be good because of the passive area damage on basic attacks applying 50% of your lifesteal, and additional burst from item's active (which also applies 50% your lifesteal).

While black cleaver is somewhat nice, triforce deserves special mention should you snowball hard in a game as it not only gives the phage proc/cdr but also allows you to basically 2-shot anything squishy with a q/w/auto sheen+thundies proc.

For actual survivability, I'm thinking that new gargoyle stoneplate thingy could be quite powerful should you never activate the active on it, as +80armor/MR when near 3 people is pretty good value for its cost and doesn't force you into buying multiple tanky items.

item 3078 isn't stat efficient on Talon imo, too much of its gold value is in stats that he doesn't have strong synergy with (like the +40% AS, and +200 Mana). item 3071 is a much better item to get health from, as it gives more health and has more of its gold value in stats Talon values highly. I can see the value of item 3193 if you are getting to 5v5 teamfight and thus usually diving into the lot of them, but in most other situations isn't not worth it, especially considering the active isn't good on Talon. I feel like right now, the best way to get a bit of tankyness is to go with: item 3071+item 3026+item 3156/item 3814/item 3139 trio, or alternatively item 3742+item 3156/item 3814/item 3139 (which only uses 2 slots, so you can get the 80 AD from Cleaver+GA instead from a pure AD item, like item 3812/item 3074, etc.)

If you get Cleaver than you have 2.5k maxhealth at lvl 18, that's pretty damn good compared to other skirmishers, with your juicy 90 health per level (Darius gets 100, only 10 more).
