Is autofill a good solution?

Got around 5 dodges, 16 minutes passed and I am still in queue. Am I unlucky or autofill actually makes queue times longer due to consistent dodges? Is it problematic only in low (bronze-silver) elo? And higher elo benefit from autofill?

Personally I think there are two problems with autofill: -dodges -bad game because player gets a role which he is unfamiliar with (champion roster, matchups, role knowledge)

What it solves? Nothing basically because you either getting a bad game or longer queue time. What it is good for? It may introduce a player to a role he wouldn't choose by himself and he actually may like it.

Auto Fill is insanely rare in any elo below Plat 1. So 99% of us don't have to deal with it anyways.

I am bronze-silver and I had autofill about 5 times since its launch in lower elo. The problem is not rarity actually. The problem - it doesn't solve any problems but introduces new ones. In my elo people dodge because they are not familiar with game that much and are not comfortable with playing in a role they don't know.

For example in about 200 games I played top around 5 times and adc around 20 times so whenever I'm getting any of these roles - I am completely useless for team. I don't have suitable roster, I don't know matchups, I don't know builds, I don't know laning, I don't know timings, etc. So an opponent either going to feed of me or apply pressure to map and I wouldn't be able to do anything apart from clearing minions under tower. And even worse there are players that still will try to play aggro.

^ This. I've rarely had an Auto fill since it's launch.

Nope, autofill is bs and I really want it to be removed.

Its going to be gone for the most part next season. The problem with the current system is it has to tetris different group sizes with different prefered roles together. Once it's back to Solo/Duo queue, it'll be a lot easier to put teams together. Might ot be gone completely, but it'll definitely be reduced

There's basically not any real good thing with it aside from it fixing horrible queue times in the higher brackets of the game. It still causes those matches to be absolutely awful as you have someone playing a role that they typically wouldn't.

I for one won't likely ever play at a level where I sit in queue for 30minutes to an hour at a time waiting for a single game, so I would prefer to wait longer and never have to be auto filled to something I don't want to play.

Yes. I seen complains from high elo (challenger) players regarding autofill different issues. Pants for example was complaining that he is not getting his main role (jg) while lower elo player gets it. And that autofill basically gets you support in most cases (he was joking that because of autofill he became pretty bad in his main role). And that you may get a role you have very few games on which results in a really bad games.

so I would prefer to wait longer and never have to be auto filled to something I don't want to play

At least I feel I'm not the one thinking that quality is better then quantity.

Bah Huh Yeah, what is it good for? Absolutely nothin!

No. For the love of God remove auto fill, and make it so you can queue for a single role.

One time when I was in silver, I waited in a que for almost 30 minutes. That is absolutely ridiculous. I think there may have been a bug where after a certain amount of time it kind of "ignores" you.

In my case it was different. I got many games but none happened. Every champ select there was smth like "wtf? I queued mid and adc and got support" or "anyone wants top?" or "I cannot support" every of them resulted in a dodge.
