My thoughts on Jhin!
Hello, I'm Cubism, active league of legends player and I wanted to give/get some thoughts on Jhin!
LORE First of all, I'm in love with this champion. As an artist he has massive appeal to me, as I've been wanted an artist/writer-esque champion for a while. His theme is great, though his lore is a little... spotty. While I understand Jhin is supposed to be this crazy-serial-sniper, a lot of his stuff is just a matter-o-fact. No preface, and doesn't get fleshed out a lot. And while we did get the teasers as part of his lore (I guess?) They really don't do a lot to flesh him out as a character.
GAMEPLAY Jhin's gameplay is fantastic. It flows smoothly, has defined strengths and weaknesses, and doesn't have too much power in any place in the kit. He does well as a traditional marksman during laning, being able to push the lane quickly, and be quite the lane bully. This works against him too, as his low mobility and lack of escape makes him an easy gank target, which he again can defend against this decently with his lotus traps. After laning, Jhin transitions between his primary and secondary role extremely well (From marksman to assassin). He excels at picking off squishies with no peel with his ult, though I think the power of the 4th shot is a little much. His traps are great, but the charge time feels a little awkward, even if you snare someone in it, but it's probably fair, considering they can reach an upwards of 1K damage in the late game.
But.. most importantly, I think there's one thing that makes Jhin really, weak at the moment. His _reload speed_While Jhin does leave his traditional role somewhat in the late game, his reload speed absolutely cripples him in teamfights. While I've had some luck by starting off with my autos, then saving my spells for my reload (which is extremely ineffective, as you usually need your E or W to try to get an assassin/enemy marksman off you) And while Jhin's damage is high, he's extremely squishy, and that reload period is way too much of a window to pick him off, and you'll need a lot of peel from teammates to circumvent this. It just feels weird to participate in teamfights without ult, as you know you might be able to get off you 4 autos, but after that you better pray that you can sprint back fast enough, or had all the enemy blow their CC on somebody else.
TL;DR Overall, I think Jhin is a great champion thematically (even though he could be fleshed out farther compared to some more recent champions and relaunches.)and balance wise, and while he has an powerful, low CD ult, his extremely slow, non-increasing reload speed is keeping him from feeling as impactful in teamfights as other traditional marksmen.
