I'm so sick of getting 150 points for a loss with champion mastery

And then having the bar fill up 1/4 of the way when you win. Even if you fed horrendously. Skill-based my ass.

EDIT: Seriously, do we have any plans to fix this? Because It doesn't feel like I am mastering my champions, or proving my mastery of a champion. Can I get a Red's opinion on this?

I've gone like 25-6 and have gotten I think around 100 points.

Next game I go 4-6 and get over 1,000 points.

Skill-based my ass.

Knowing how to win is the most important skill in the game. Hence, it is weighted accordingly.

I feel it. When i go 12/3/10 and i loss because of some kind of throw or whatever, i cant see how much the experience meter goes up.

Agreed. Isn't the point of the Champion Mastery system to...oh, I don't know, show our individual mastery of a champion? Crazy concept, I know, but bear with me.

I understand that winning is the most important part of League of Legends, but a system specifically intended to show dedication/skill with a particular champion really shouldn't be based on win/loss to such a ridiculous extent. I'm totally fine with it even being like half for losing, but winning is easily ten times more mastery even if playing like a god in the game you happened to lose.

I'd really like to see data on the break-even point between winning and losing. How well do you have to do during a loss to match how poorly you can do during a win and still get the same amount of Mastery? I'd be willing to bet you have to get an S while losing to match getting a C- or a D while winning, which is just ridiculous.

kills =/= skill

Maybe in the mind of an APC The only thing that matters is their nexus exploding. Learn to make that happen, not the kills you got.

Penta Penguin9/21/2015, 9:12:43 PM4 votes

"winning is all that matters so you're wrong"

IT'S CALLED "CHAMPION MASTERY" RELATING TO YOUR INDIVIDUAL SKILL AND PERFORMANCE ON A CHAMPION

But but but, you can also get a very high grade when losing a game.

So basically, your grade is based on your damage, your KDA, your warding, your CS, etc.

Your points are mostly based on if you won or lost.

That way, those looking to grind to Rank 5 will focus on winning, not just warding and CSing and not dying and not caring if they win, whereas people looking for high rankings will just play well, but it's personal satisfaction to get those grades, and you don't grind grades, so the whole winning losing is a nonfactor and people will still care about winning.

When I win a 20 minute game and feed like shit I get 2000 xp. When I do very good and go 25/3 in a very long and difficult game, but I end up losing I get 100xp. Rito pls

I know how u feel man. When u win u get 10x the amount u get when u lose.

Winning the game is the goal... However I don't believe that is the point of the conflict.

Lets say there is two games I played one I won, the other well... of course I lost.

The first one I played as my main top laner I had an average of 75-80 cs per 10, 49k damage dealt (to Champions), 28 wards placed, two enemy red buffs stolen, a blue, 4 towers, a inhib... and 7 kills, 2 deaths, and 12 assists... but we lost. I would only get a minimal amount of mastery even if I had the most towers taken in the game, damage dealt and most wards placed.

The second game I could have a quarter of that and have 1/3/8 in kda and still get a massive boost. for a mastery system... It is not that much of a mastery system. From my view point it only represents how many times you have played the champion... not if you have "mastered" the champion.

I like this post.. Mostly for the fact that I can totally relate.. I believe a good way to resolve this is by adding challenges/achievements for each champion. For example, I don't know if you play CoD, but getting mastery for guns includes stuff like 'get 500 headshots with this weapon' or 'get 25 kills with this weapon without dying'. Maybe the same concept could be used in league. I will use Katarina as an example (She is one of my fav champs). Something like 'Get 3 resets on your passive in under 5 seconds 10 times". Or maybe another one for someone like Yasuo, "Land 250 tornadoes with this champion'. This would honestly show true mastery, and will even get players an idea on what they need to do/practice to get better with that champion. Just an idea.

EDIT// It might take a bit to form all of these concepts for each champion but IMO it shows mastery over a champion WAY better then stacking up points through winning and losing.

Even lolking has a better skill rating for players on champions, and that thing basically looks at average cs numbers and applies a rating.

I went 1/27/10 with Alistar once. Got a b-

Kinjishi9/22/2015, 3:57:27 AM2 votes

Agreed. This is not a balanced mastery system. Receiving 10x the amount of points for a win is ridiculous. How Riot agreed with this... don't even know. Probably the same screwy logic they use to decide that 3 out of 5 people isn't a majority for a surrender. Riot maths r gud. -_-

stealthfox949/22/2015, 2:03:35 AM2 votes

Yeah like I suck with Lee Sin went like 2/8/7 with him but because I won the one game I played with him I have 1400 mastery points.......

Carry9/22/2015, 3:30:26 PM2 votes

Skill-based your ass indeed. The system is not intended to be skill based, hence why it's just as easy to get Mastery points playing against Bronze players in norms as it is playing against Diamond players in ranked.

Riot added Mastery to the game to give people who enjoy grinding something to grind for. There's already a system in place to indicate your skill and that is the League system.
