Why dont people play this? His only counter matchups are Renekton and Tryndamere.

He has unlimited sustain, that no top laner can effectively poke through. (Umbrablades, Corruption Potion, Biscuits+Timewarp tonic, overheal, Bloodline) His kit inevitably keeps the lane hard shoved onto the enemies tower, allowing much freedom to ward, assist your jungler, collapse on mid, recall+Ult bot lane/TP ult bot lane, use R to protect your jungler, and lose little to no CS in doing so. Possibly the best tower smasher in the game due to all the steroids built into his kit(So youre gonna get tower plates, and likely tower firstblood). He has reasonable, not great gank escape(Fear one+follow your Q trail away). But he doesnt really need excellent gank escape, since he's constantly free to be aware of the entire top side of the map..

cons- Cant properly freeze.

His level 6>recall+buy Serrated Dirk>Walk bot>Ult bot lane while they are lvl 4>TP back to top. Is so effective.

I'll give it a go sometime. What are we building? Lethality or getting a TF and Ravenous in there?

I've had more success with alternate tanks (Leona, Nunu/Willump) top than AD assassins in the past but willing to try it. Trying to get back into play SR (after playing ARAM all season) so will be a nice change.

Generally going for a 3 lethality item build.(Lethal Tempo+Biscuits/Timewarp Tonic) But, sometimes BotRK is a priority item.(Example: Nocturne vs Darius, you'll want to rush BotRK, or at the very least the cutlass) And sometimes being an assassin isnt useful against your enemies team composition, so you can go a bruiser build. But, USUALLY 3x Lethality items. He works better than other assassins, since hes sort of cross between a Fighter and an Assassin, and is flexible enough to have the option of being a Fighter+Bruiser instead, and in lane he's a better drain tank than pre-rework Aatrox. Which is something other assassins lack and is predominantly what keeps them out of the top lane(sustain).

Because everything strange is troll for the boards and almost all the league commmunity (Even when they are crying for diversity 24/7)

I have been flamed by people with <50 % wr in his champs only for play strange things, even when I got a truly good stats and performance as them. Example: Fizz support with PTA (62 % wr), some seasons ago A Sol jgl (54 % wr in s lot of games, even getting a lot of people trolling me BCS the pick) or even Wuk jgl with 63 % wr in like 600 games in 3 different seasons

TLDR: If a proplay doesn't play it, it's troll.

Gnar Kennen Vayne and Vlad all beat him statistically.

Then you have Shen, Olaf and Kled who absolutely decimate him statistically for pretty clear reasons.

But hey if it’s working so far keep going.

Just Olaf really, so rare that i see him tho. Vlad- hard no. Kled-no Shen feels fair but doesnt stop me from farming or roaming. If he ults, he loses his tower. Vayne feels fair but doesnt stop me from farming or roaming Gnar is just annoying.

I'm pretty sure Garen would wreck him too. Whenever I play against a Nocturn jungle as Garen, even pre-rework, it always seemed like I could easily sustain through his burst and basically one shot him. I'm pretty sure top would be a similar story.

nah, spellshield the Q, latch Garen with E. Trade with him until about .25 seconds before your fear wears off. Back off. Umbrablade the wave. rinse and repeat. Garen will be forced to sit on his tower dodging Nocturne Q's until his jungler applies some pressure. Rush BotrK for sustained dps rather than burst. Go typical Lethality items afterwards(as long as it makes sense too). Garen isnt a problem, unless he somehow gets fed.

Adversely, Garen E max, phage first item, w the fear and do 60% of noc's hp in one trade... Idk man, doesn't seem great for noc. Also Garen can sustain through Nocturn Q poke pretty easily with a doran's shield. Looking on League of Graphs Garen has like a 55% win rate against Nocturn top.
